October 30, 2004- The Homestretch

As we have finally come to the end of October, 2004, we are also coming to the end of what seems like an interminable Presidential campaign. Yes, all of them seem interminable, but this one even more so, considering the hype and such that it has been getting ever since last spring when it became apparent who the two candidates would be this time around. For the last month, President Bush and John Kerry have been everywhere in the media but not everywhere physically. Their braintrusts have determined which states they have comfortable leads in and which ones are up for grabs, and all of their efforts in the last six weeks have been in those undecided states only. If you live in a state other than these undecided ones, you have zero chance of seeing either candidate either in person or on TV and radio ads, you only see them on the news in those states. If you have been following the campaign lately, it seems as if America only has about ten states because that's where the candidates are every single day, back in the same states courting the same voters. Even so, interest in this year's election is almost at record levels across America, Election Boards all across America are predicting higher than average turnout next Tuesday, here in Chicago, they say that the all time voter level record might be threatened, and that record dates back to the 1940's, as most voter turnout records date back that far or even farther across America. For decades, there have been lower and lower voter turnouts every election, to the point where America has become something of a joke across the world, with its continual bragging about its system and how great it is, and then having less and less of its people turning out every time. However, this time, that trend will be reversed, and reversed in a big way too. Everywhere you look, you are seeing all this "get out and vote" shit, even on MTV, there are constant reminders to go out and vote next Tuesday, and many Americans are heeding the call this time. People that have not voted in decades are dusting off their voter registration cards and getting a map to see where their local polling place is now and getting ready to go out next Tuesday. Most of this interest stems from the fact that people generally feel that this is a critical election for America, that it really matters who gets elected this time, not like 1984, when Ronnie Reagan was running against that Mondale dude and kicked his ass in record fashion, back then, people did not feel that America's future was at stake, but now they do. Ever since that fateful day of September 11th, 2001, Americans have looked at their country differently than they ever have before, and this is the first Presidential election since that day, and people want to participate now whereas they never really gave a shit about it all before. All across America, you hear People debating the issues and the candidates qualifications, trying very hard to make a clear and informed decision this time, not just blow in and vote and get the fuck out and go home and have dinner. The American people really feel that this election next week is the most crucial for America in a long time, maybe ever. So they are paying attention to it like never before, and this year there promises to be less people that are pissed off about their favorite TV shows not being on next Tuesday, although you can rest assured that there are still millions of those types of folks scattered across the Republic. The American people feel that they can make a loud and clear statement not only to Washington, but to the terrorists and other anti-Americans around the world that America is still going strong and that they or no one else will stop it. Both candidates say that is the message that they want sent next Tuesday, no matter who wins. So we are in the last three days of the most hotly contested Presidential race in a while, maybe even more so than the one we saw in 2000, and in three days, the American people get their say in it all.

Or do they? In addition to the campaign shit that is omnipresent these days, there are all sorts of ominous stories abounding concerning the balloting process and its aftermath. Now this is nothing new for this election, we have heard about possible problems in places like Florida and the like for months now, and the candidates both said that they are aware of that. Both the Republican and Democratic parties got together teams of lawyers that were ready to take on any problems that might erupt in those states. However, far from settling that problem, it only seems to be worsening. For now we are hearing that both parties have teams of lawyers that are ready to go not just to Florida or other contested states to settle balloting problems, but that they are now ready to go anywhere in America to address these problems. For most Americans, it was not a worry about whether or not their vote would count or not, only if they lived in Florida or these other controversial states, but now that has changed dramatically. Both parties are saying that they expect problems to crop up anywhere in America next week, not just in Florida, and that they have lawyers ready to address that. So, suddenly, every person in America that is going out to vote Tuesday has to wonder whether or not their votes will count or not. People that never gave that a second thought are now wondering if they will be heard next week or if it will be lawyers and attorneys that decide everything again. So many of these people that never voted before did so because they felt that they were not being heard, that the election was really a sham, so they stayed home. Now, the political parties and the media have orchestrated this policy of getting these people up off of their asses and out to the polls next week, and then they say that there could be problems with your vote no matter where you are at in America. If these problems crop up on Election Day and afterwards, and there seems to be every indication that they will, the only question is in what number, many of those people that were convinced to finally go out and vote will have their suspicions realized when their votes are put into limbo and the lawyers start to take over from there. Since that is going to be a big part of the story come next Tuesday night and beyond, many Americans are going to be left feeling that they have just been told to their faces that their vote does not mean shit and that is was indeed a pointless exercise going out and voting like they always thought it was. That is no accident. It seems as if Washington wants everyone to see that their votes do not matter anymore, that they mattered more in 1984 with Reagan than they do now because they want to teach the people a lesson. That lesson seems to be that they want to tell everyone that they have zero say in things after all, and that The Establishment can do just fine choosing the leaders of America themselves without any bothersome input from the people.

Everything that is happening in the last part of the campaign is pointing to this, including the latest video from Osama bin Laden, which will not be shown on MTV or VH-1 anytime soon. On it, he calmly explains what he calls his reasons for doing what he did in 2001 and what he continues to do and tells the American people that he won't do it anymore if the USA does not attack his people anymore. He laughs at President Bush and his reactions on September 11th, 2001 and mocks him no end. He talks about the election next week and tells the American people that they can help themselves by doing the proper thing next week (whatever that is). He is clearly trying to influence the elections, not like his people did in Spain by blowing up trains, but by doing the same thing that President Bush and senator Kerry have been doing, encouraging the American people to get out and vote next week. He knows exactly what Washington is trying to do, after all, he comes from a part of the world where freedom is in short supply, and governments and other authorities rule autocratically without any input from the people, so he knows the signs when he sees them. He also knows that it is going to be way too hard to pull off any kind of meaningful terrorist strike before Election day, if he was going to do that, he would have done it by now anyway, so he is resorting to another tactic. He knows that he if makes that video that was shown yesterday, that the American people will rally together against him since they fuckin' hate him so much, and in this case, that rallying would be going out and voting on Tuesday. He knows how much he pisses off the American people, and that if they feel that going out and voting, no matter who they vote for Bush, Kerry, Nader, or Ozzy, that they will be sticking it to him by defying him. If anyone thinks that bin Laden has a preference as to who wins next week, you are sadly mistaken, because no matter who gets elected, they will not pursue anything but an utterly hostile policy towards him, trying to hunt him down and capture or kill him and the like. He made sure of this by actually admitting for the first time that he was indeed behind the events of September 11th, 2001, and laughing about it too. He knows that will cement his reputation as Public Enemy Number One in American's minds and that's exactly what he wants. He wants people to go out in droves Tuesday and vote just because he threatened them again because he wants that legal chaos that both political parties have been gearing up for all this time, all the legal challenges and fighting over the votes that can be done, bin Laden wants it all.The more of that legal shit that goes on after Tuesday, the happier he will be, because he has sent America into chaos once again by making the people doubt their government and their system and see that they do not count worth shit. He is not doing this because he feels that this will gain him converts to his side, he knows that there is nothing that he could ever do that would have that effect, so why bother. He wants to make American feel insecure about their government again, and he knows that he has Washington on his side this time, ready and willing to make it happen, so he threw his two cents into the whole thing with his latest tape.

What the result of all of this will be is not going to be known for at least four long fuckin' days, and probably a lot more than that. How the American people are going to react to seeing their votes cast aside in favor of lawyers and their legal wrangling is the question that not only Usama bin Laden, but Washington is waiting for. It is a certainty that there will be all sorts of chaos surrounding the election process this year, and it will be spread all across America, not just confined to one state like last time. Both President Bush and Senator Kerry know this, yet they continue to try and drum up the vote like their lives depended on it. Neither of them likes this campaigning shit, no politician does, as it takes time away from their ability to grab as much of everything as they can for themselves, and since that is the primary goal of politicians, they are sick of this election bother that keeps them from that pursuit that they love so. They also know that the best way to put a stop to what they consider needless nonsense is to get everyone that they can possibly get out there next Tuesday and let them see for themselves that their voices are not counted, so that they can go back and tell everyone else that did not go out and vote not to bother because there is really no reason to do it, just like they thought all along. There will be untold numbers of Americans that do just that, as they will be disgusted with how it all turned out and just say fuck it all for good. This will delight politicians all across the political spectrum, as they will see their dream becoming closer to reality, where the bothersome people have zero say in anything anymore. So, when you look at it closely, we are not only in the homestretch of the Presidential campaign of 2004, but of any campaigning of any kind in America, as the vote is going to be shown as the meaningless trifle that it is to Washington and the politicians. That is going to be a large part of the change that everyone is talking about for America, and it is not the changes that the American people had in mind. All the bluster and blather of these next three days by the candidates is merely a sham, as they encourage all to get out and vote, knowing that there is a good chance that the votes will end up in some court somewhere instead of the ballot box as they should. How the people are going to take all of this is the question, the only thing that Washington is still worrying about. However, they have cuckolded and browbeaten the American people into such a state of submission that they probably will not protest any of this much, if at all. They will just see that Kerry and Bush are merely frontmen for an agenda, one that the common man has no place in. This is every bit as much what we are in the homestretch of as the actual balloting that takes place next week. The politicians are right when they say that there will be change coming for America out of these elections, but that change will be the taking away of America from the common man and the giving of it to the oligarchs that want to run things their way only. There will be no new day for America like the candidates are saying 5,000 times every day right now, just the same old, very dark day that these folks have been leading us all to all along. All the pep rallies with Bruce Springsteen and the spiffy TV commercials and the heartfelt pleas that we are going to hear from these candidates these next three days are nothing more than a sham, like a professional wrestling show is. The only change that the politicians want is for the people to butt out of the whole process and let them choose everything themselves, and that is probably what they are going to get out of it all. For the American people might just finally give up in large numbers on the whole electoral process after this one is finally history, which will not happen sometime on Tuesday night, that is for sure,it won't actually end for many weeks, possibly months, after that. The whole electoral process is due to change radically after next Tuesday, be it one way or another. No, we are not just in the homestretch of another interminable Presidential campaign, but we are in the homestretch of something much bigger than that, the radical changing of America into the utopian vision of politicians, which is not anything close to utopia for anyone else. No matter who wins and who loses in three days, this process is underway, and there seems to be very little that anyone can do to stop it either. Next Tuesday is indeed going to be the dawning of a new day in America, but that day is not the one that the candidates are so feverishly promising us right now,and that is the biggest crime of all, how America is going to be stolen from the people in a mere three days.
