October 25, 2007- Interference

America is in the middle of one of the worst disasters that it has seen in a very long time, something that is making Hurricane Katrina look like nothing. Right now, the worst series of wildfires that Southern California has ever seen are raging out of control. This has become a disaster of epic proportions, with millions of acres burned, and close to one million people being displaced, and that number probably will be higher in a few hours. That is the largest displacement of people in America since the Civil War, so you know that this is serious as it gets. Many towns are being utterly devastated, as practically all the homes in them are being destroyed, and these are not just cabins in the woods either, these are very expensive homes. Homes of Holywood celebrities and the assorted rich and famous are going up in smoke, and the end is not in sight. There are estimations that some of these fires may burn for the rest of this month, and no one knows when they'll finally be out. The whole thing is at the mercy of the weather, as hot and dry conditions combined with very strong winds create an ideal situation for fires and the only way that they are ever going to be able to stop this is when these conditions change a bit. They say that is starting to happen, but it is happening far too late for thousands of people who have lost everything they ever had. Unbelieveably, there have been less than ten deaths attributed to all of this, and not that many injuries either, the main damage is destruction of property. Everyone from California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to Preesident George W. Bush have declared the whole scene a disaster area of the worst kind, and it is sure to be years, if ever, before the whole thing is fixed again. The effects of this thing are going to be felt all across America for years to come, everything from groceries to taxes  to insurance premiums are sure to go up to help pay for the massive bill that will be required for proper cleanup and rebuilding so everyone in America is going to end up footing a part of this bill. However, they cannot even start estimating how much they'll need to rebuild and shit until they get this all over first, and that is nowhere in sight as of now. So this massive disaster is going to get even larger before it gets taken care of so the true tol of it all cannot even be estimated yet. However, the pundits are out in force as always, and they are batting every possible issue on this disaster back and forth and back again, and are as breathless and hysterical on this as they are on every other important issue that they speak on. Everything from the effects of global warming on this disaster to what is going to happen to all the puppydogs and kittycats that people have had to leave behind to what are Tori Spelling and her husband going to do now that their brand new bed and breakfast in has had to be shut down and is imminenty threatened by the flames are being debated and talked about endelssly all over America, and everyone has an answer on all of it. Even President Bush has been brought into it, although even his harshest critics don't really think that he had anything to do with this one, to say so would be quite a stretch. When all the silly shit about Tori Spelling and kittycats has died down, the very real question of what caused this and what needs to be done about it will be staring everyone in the face big time and the answers to that are not these wild specualtions about climate change and arsonists, although it now seems that arsonists have had a hand in this, but the answers are no tones that a lot of people want to hear.

These wildfires have been burning in what used to be rural California, but is fast becoming Suburbia USA. For decades, only the mountain men lived there, subsisting off the land and shit, but those guys have been forced to move on in the name of progress and profit. developers have found that area and have been making a fucking killing of fof it for the last several years. One of the main reasons that  anyone moves to California is because they love the bucolic scenery and such. The state is home to some breathtaking mountain ranges and some of the most pristine woods left in America. You can get a house with a magnificent view of nearly anything you want there, and as moire and more people flock to the state to resettle, the urban sprawl has been going further and further into these woods and mountains. However, instead of making like loggers and clearcutting and destroying everything to the bone in the name of houses, the people in California have done the best that they could to try and integrate these houses and towns and shit into the scenery as they can. They do not do this out of any respect for nature, they do it because there is a fucking ton of money in it for them. They can make far more money by building these houses in between the trees and mountains and shit and leaving the environment pretty much intact than the loggers  or miners can do by blasting everything away. The people that buy these houses have an awful lot of money to spend, and these developers are making sure that they spend as much of it as possible on housing. They charge these foks up the ying-yang for these places, that is why the Holywood crowd is there, they only go where the most expensive and finest homes are, everyone knows that, and getting those plastic fuckers inthese houses is making the developers even more money by selling the fact that you could the a neighbor of some Hollywood star. That and the added bonus of seeing bears and cougars and other assorted creatures in your very own backyard and smelling pinecones and bearshit on the wind makes these homes worth an awful lot of money. So Mr. Businessman has not been shy about exploiting that for himself, just as he does with everything else. However, in his haste to make money, Mr. Busienssman forgets a few things. One thing that he forgets is that there are things like creosote bushes in that bucolic beauty that he sells, bushes that ooze the stuff, and creosote is about as flammable as gasoline. Another thing that he forgets is that the beautiful weather that he sees day after day also has a price. It does not rain that much In Southern California, and it does not snow except way up in the mountains. Water has always been a commodity in that state, and theer have been some nasty disputes over it as time has gone on. California can get to be a very dry state, and no tin terms of sales of liquor either, since it is sunny day after fucking day, the water levels can get seriously depleted, and things can get to be very dry. With all that shit like creosote bushes and other such undergrowth around these fancy homes you can get a tinderbox waiting to ignite. In the past, it was only shit like lightning strikes that would set that tindrerbox off, but now that man has arrived on the scene, there are infinetly more ways that these fires can start. A downed power line, a pyromaniac, a careless smoker, a smoldering campfire, these are all ways that man can start the whole thing up, and they are saying that many of these factors have been responsible this time for all these fires. They have all come together to make a disaster of epic proportions, but it did not have to be this bad at all.

These fires are nothing new since man moved into the area, in fact, these same kind of conditions make some of these fires burn every year at this time. However, they usually do not get so far out of hand as they are now, and the reason for that is man. Whenever any of  these fires started in the past, someone would call 911 and the local Fire Department would rush to the scene and put the fire out before it damaged much of anything. Obviously, they did this to protect Mr. Businessman's million dollar homes from burning, but in doing so, they interfered with nature big time. Like everything else on earth, a forest only has a certain amount of time that it is in existence, eventually, it has to go or else it is going to die out from old age. Now, forests are big things, and they cannot just go find a female forest and fuck it and make sure that the forests stay alive in the same way that humans perpetuate the race, so there has to be another method involved. That method is fire, the trees and shit are supposed to burn to destroy them so that new groiwth can start and the forest can renew itself. That is why those creosote bushes secrete creosote to begin withm they are just asking to be burned someday, they'll even supply the fuel. The trees get themselves all dried out so that they can attract flames, and the grass dies so it can attract it, the entire forest just begs to be burned one day because it knows that is the  way that it has to be. Just because Tori Spelling or Mr. Businesmna decides to live there this does not change. These fires are supposed to happen on a rather regular basis, as the forest wants to burn itself a piece at a time so that the whole thing does not have to burn at once.  However, since Mr. Businessman arrived on the scene and started putting these fires out to portect his investments, that cycle has not been allowed to occur. That has meant that the bucolic beauty that he sells has been getting older and older, far past its life expectancy. Due to this, not just one part of the forest needs to burn this year, but  many parts, and that has been growing and growing for years now. By now, the entire fucking thing needs to go, and man is not going to be able to stop it forever, nature will have its way. So there had to be a huge fire season this year in that area, simply because all the smaller ones that were supposed to have been happening these last few years have not been alowed to occur and that is why we have a major catsatrophe on ouur hands here. What is happening is simply what has been long overdue for the area, and that is the renewal of that bucolic beauty that  Mr. Businessman plans on making millions more off of. The fact that his investments are right smack inthe middle here means that his investments are going to go up in smoke like the rest of the landscape. Even though houses are not made to go out that way means zero to nature, if Mr. Businessman insists on building them in the forest, then eventually, they'll have to burn like everything else has to. So golbal warming has nothing to do with it, George W. Bush has nothing to do with it, Al-Queda has nothing to do with it, this was something that man had forestalled much longer than he should have, and now he is paying the price. So calling this a disaster is a misnomer, because this is not a disaster for the lands that are burning, it is the way that it was all supposed to go all along, this is just a disaster for man, because his investments and property and shit are being burned away along with the creosote bushes and trees and grasses and shit. It has been his relentless interference with nature's processes that caused this, nothing else.

The thing is, it may be a disaster for man in terms of the people that had these homes and now have seen them burn, but this is far from a disaster for the man that is primarily responsible for this to begin with, Mr. Businessman. Oh sure, he loses his investments when these houses burn, but that is going to be nothing when you compare it to the monies that he will make off of this once it is done. There is no way that he is going to leave the area now  and say that he'll build elsewhere, he says that he is there to stay, and he fucking means it. Once the fires are out and before the land even gets a chance to cool off, Mr. Businessman will be right back there making more money than ever off of it all. He gets to rebuild al lthese expensive homes at today's dollars, making the new ones that will replace the burned ones even more expensive and profitable. He gets to sell the displaced people all new shit to replace what they lost, again at today's dollars. He also gets to go begging to Uncle Sam and Califiornia for money to help him to his thing, and he'll get it too. So Mr. Businessman is set to make way more money off the area now than he ever did before, and that makes him downright giddy. So if you think that he intends to learn one fucking thing from this and will change his ways to make things safer, you are sadly mistaken. Once he saw that interfering with nature meant money for him, there was no stopping the fucker. Besides that, the ones that profit the most off the area do not live anywhere near there so they did not lose a fucking thing, and are ready to make even more money.  Yes they'l lpay lip srvice to change and say they will, but they'll never do shit, and no one will make them either, because they are all making money together, and that matters more than anything. So we can expect to see the same pattern followed once this is all over, man will continue to relentlessly interfere with nature and nature's ways unril everything gets so backed up that it explodes into something far worse than what it should ever be and we'll see the saqme cycle repeated again. This is Mr. Businessman's sick way of mimicking the cycle of nature, for him, it is the cycle of profits. Since he thinks that he reigns supreme, that will be the cycle that takes over, relegating the natural one to second place. To him, the monies that he can make are way more important than the nature that he inhabits, so expect to see this whole fucked up scene again in a few years from now. Man cares not about nature, he feels that it is there to serve his needs instead of the other way around, and when he has such a fucking arrogant attitude like that, he is inviting disasters of this scale every bit as much as the creosote bushes invite flames by secreting creosote, but the shit that man causes is far worse than what nature intends it to be. No one will learn that lesson here, not Tori Spelling, not Arnold Schwarzenneger, certainly not Mr. Businessman, and that is the real disaster here. Man could do this if he wanted to, he just does not want to because it is better for him financialy to do otherwise. That's why we are sure to see disasters that dwarf this one popping up all across America as this new century goes on, because California is not the only place where man is interfering with nature, he does that wherever he is, so wildfires will be far from the only disasters that he causes through this fucked up cycle of his, no one can say what the upper limit of that wil be, and that is as scary a thought as there is. Howver, he'll never give a shit, because he always comes out "on top" in the end, so no price is too large to pay for that in his fucked up mind.
