Most people say that they did this because Bush cannot be told anything that he does not want to hear ever. So many feel that the man is far out of touch with what is really going on in the world and that way by choice too. There have been so many stories about how people have been unable to show or tell him that something is not the way that he thinks that it is because he just won't hear them. Critics point to his dogged stance on Iraq, that he is going to stay the course no matter what, and continues to do so even as things continue to unravel over there. No matter how bad things get there, he continually says that they are not so bad and that he will continue on and that things will turn out the way that he said they would in the end, you just wait and see. They say that this is a man that cannot be told the reality of things because he won't accept that and take it out on his subordinates and act like a spoiled brat until they tell him what he wants to hear. So that would mean that the soldiers had to be coached so that one of them did not try the shit that the dude did on Cheney and upset Bush's view of things. However, it is just too fucking hard to believe that the dude is that naive, he has been President for over five years now, and he just had to learn something in that time, if just through osmosis. There is no way that he can think that the war in Iraq is going hunky dory and great because there is too much information to the contrary on the news every day to start with. Add to that the fact that Bush is supposed to be on the inside of things and get special briefings that the public is not privy to and the man just has to know how things are going in Iraq. It is true that he does not like to be told things contrary to what he believes to be true, and does indeed cuss out those that insist on doing that. But that does not mean that he knows when a situation is far bigger than him even as President and that he has limited control over that situation. He knows that he started the war, but that it has taken on a life of its own, as every war does, and gone far beyond the scope of his powers. He knew going in to the thing back in 2003 that it would be this way, there is just no other way for it to go. He had hoped for the best, but was not blind to the possibility of the worst, and he is getting that now, and he knows it too. If he says that now publicly though, he will lose serious points among his supporters and he needs all of them that he can get now. He knew that the soldiers were being coached to tell him good shit just as he was coached to ask questions that prompted good answers. This was not an ad-lib performance by Bush, he had his prepared questions that his staff wrote for him like he always does, and definetly appreciated the fact that his audience had the same for a change.
No, they did that for another reason altogether, a propaganda one. The military and the war have been stuffed back in the news these last two months due to the hurricanes that have devastated America. Washington does not like that at all, because they want the war on everyone's mind all the time just like it is in theirs because that means money for them. If the war is in everyone's face every day, they are more likely to support what Washington wants them to support, like anything hip and in the media all the time is. Paris Hilton gets all kinds of undeserved support just because she is in the media seemingly every week and has made herself a hip and hot item. Washington has loved the fact that the war has also been that, but it has not been that way for weeks now, and they had to do something about that. The best thing that they could do is to have a photo op for Bush talking to the troops and seeming like he is in charge. Even though no President is actually in charge of the military, that's what the Pentagon is for, most people do not know that and believe that he is. So if Bush gets on TV and chats with the troops and seems to be aware of things and in charge, that brings the war right back to the forefront. Especially if those troops tell him what Washington says and make it seem as if they are doing the job effectively Because that soothes the American people. It also reminds them that the war did not end when the hurricanes struck and that even though those were great tragedies the battle against terror goes on unabated. They have to get that thought through for one simple reason, if the American people are allowed to step back and take a look at the war from another angle, they might not be so supportive anymore. Especially now, when it looks so obvious that America should be taking care of its own at home instead of putting lives in danger overseas and such, that is sheer death to the war effort. That attitude has been prevalent in America these last few weeks too, and Washington decided that they had to do something about it and that was what that conference was for. They had to show the American people that the war effort was still alive and well, and that it is not a disaster like the hurricane shit was and that they need to get their flags back out and wave them mightily again and support the war like they did before. Even the fact that the whole things was orchestrated is not that great a tragedy for Washington because that gets rid of the idea that it was any kind of real news and just another pep rally put on by Washington. That was why the mouthpiece attacked the reporter for being so insolent as to bring up that fact because he essentially assailed the dude's patriotism, making him look like someone that thinks that the troops lie. Painting critics and skeptics with the anti American brush has worked beautifully for this Administration for years now because that makes the ordinary people not want to think like that or else risk being called unamerican. That adds to the pep rally feel identifying someone that is not on the team, and simple shit like that is what the White House thrives on, and they got it here. So that was why they staged the whole thing and did not even care that the cameras were on, they had to know that they were, they lie when they say otherwise, they had it all planned as usual. All this embarrassment and nonsense about technical challenges is just laughable bullshit, we have Geraldo Rivera live from Iraq reporting breathlessly on shit, so if Fox News can do that easily so that even a nitwit like Geraldo can do it, Washington had zero technical problems and that is just a flimsy excuse.
They had to have a pep rally to get the American people ready for the next phase of the war, and that's Invading Iran. These hurricanes just slowed that timetable a bit, they did zero to stop it because it is way behind schedule already. Bush's handlers are pushing his ass hard to get going in Iran, they have waited long enough and want their booty right fucking now. That's why the war has to be front page again, so that America can get used to the fact that it is far from over, that it is about to spread ever more now. They have to get in the pep rally rah rah mode and wave the flag and support the troops, even though it is not the troops that make the decisions to do the shit, so supporting their actions is supporting the ideas of those that start the wars to begin with. America has to go back to the anyone that has any questions or concerns is a wimpy traitor, no better than the enemy and stand behind the flag singing patriotic songs and supporting the invasion. That means that they have to make it seem like things are stabilized in Iraq, and that is what the sham elections are for, once those are over in a couple months Bush intends to move on into Iran, and he needs the support of the people for that. The troops have no say in it, they just go where they are told to go, and when they are told to go to Iran, they'll go there. So the only ones that have to be sold on this idea are the American people, and that selling job started the other day. That was Act One towards the invasion of Iran and the next step of Bush's plan. So there just could not be any rogue soldiers or plants there that would say anything embarrassing to Bush, and that is not as easy to come by as you might think. Many soldiers do not like him anymore, because he put them in harm's way there and would not hesitate to tell him so if they got the chance. If any did do that, there would be nothing that could be done to them from a disciplinary standpoint, they have every right to say and do that unless they get out of hand and threaten Bush or whatever. So they had to handpick the soldiers the other day real good and make sure that they were not so fucking dumb that they'd ask a dumb question that would broach a sensitive subject and embarrass Bush or whatever. That is not so easy either, as many soldiers are not that educated and are prone to saying the wrong thing, they know zero about political correctness because war is as politically incorrect as it gets, and they are not schooled in the finer points of things and are thus prone to say the wrong thing at the wrong time. That all had to be dealt with the other day, and Washington decided that the way to do it was to script everything from every side. The soldiers complied and they are trained to do that, to follow orders, and the whole thing came out very nicely for Washington, despite what the press might think. They have no idea that they are going to be sent to Iran as soon as Bush can make that happen, and will have no choice when it happens. Bush knows that he just has to start a war to start the money flowing, and leave the details of how to end it to others in years to come, and that's What he wants for Iran. But if the American people were shocked out of the shells by the hurricanes and feel that the war needs to stop so that disasters like that do not happen in America again, the party's over early. The only way to stop that is to get the people all revved up in the patriotic spirit and cheer the troops on, and the troops have to be front and center for that to happen. That will not be the last scripted chat that Bush has with soldiers, as Washington clearly wants to use this format as a way to push their agenda. The soldiers are perfect for that, as that is what Washington essentially uses them for anyway, and this is just another facet of that. The technical challenge that Washington faces is not linking the President up with the troops via satellite but the challenge of getting the American people to support another excursion into Iran. For that, the newest technological advances are to be employed to sell the old message that Washington has been pushing for so long now, the message that war is the way to go for everything. Staging press conferences and question and answer sessions is but a small part of that for Washington and there will be far larger attempts to hardsell that idea as time moves on. The media will be a compliant part of that process, they are already and always have been, and people like that reporter that questioned the whole thing will soon be unemployed for life, gone and forgotten. The Iran agenda is going to be pushed harder and harder now, and America just has to get used to that. Any and all means will be used for that, and staged conferences fit right in there very well. Washington intends to meet that challenge, and get its way, no matter what, and then the next technical challenge will be selling the next part of the plan and so on. It Is sure to become even more of a stale old rerun then it is now, and no new ways of packaging it can disguise that.
