They feel that this means that America is admitting that they are giving up looking for the dude because they have not been able to find him so far. From the battles at Tora Bora in late 2001 to all the military expeditions in the Afghanistan/Pakistan mountains to go after the dude, he has seemingly managed to slip past America every time. Skeptics are now saying that Washington has adopted this new policy towards him because they know that they will never be able to get him, so they are just giving up the ghost. To many, it has been inconceivable that America has not been able to capture the guy. After all, he has been holed up in the mountainous regions between Afghanistan and Pakistan for over three years now, and that is not an overly huge region. Yes, it is rugged and dangerous terrain, but it's not like the size of Europe or anything like that. There are only so many caves available in there, and any tunnels dug in there can only go from one cave to another, and with all that advanced spy technology that Washington likes to brag about, like their spy satellites that could see a dime laying on the ground from outer space, why have they been unable to pinpoint where bin Laden is by now? This makes the dude seem like the greatest mastermind of all time, and many fear that Washington is just giving up on finding him. That raises fears among many that he will be free to arrange still more terrorist strikes against America and everywhere else on earth with impunity. That is the thought that scares more Americans than anything else, and that is why many are freaking out over Washington's change in tactics concerning him. They see the videos that his underlings are making encouraging young Muslims to do shit like the hijackers did three years ago and make a statement against America, and they hear the reports about how many young Muslims take that shit seriously and are falling all over themselves to sign up for the jihad, and they get very afraid about another attack against America. The only comfort that they had was the thought that Washington was doing all that it possibly could to get bin Laden before he could strike again, and now that has been removed, so they freak out. That makes them think that America is staring to concede defeat in the whole War On Terror and that the USA really could be overrun with Islamic fanatics and zealots like everyone warned. This is not a totally unfounded way to look at this issue, after all, bin Laden was vilified within hours of the terrorist attacks in 2001, and blamed for everything after that for a long time. The American people were taught to fear him no end, as he was made into the biggest, baddest, most evil motherfucker that existed, and an evil fucker that was hell-bent on the destruction of America and the death of the American populace. Now suddenly, capturing him has become a lower priority than holding elections that were full of controversy and problems the whole time anyway. Even if you are not freaked out with fear by this change in tactics, it is certainly curious as to why America changed their tune on this like they did. However, as always, Washington has its reasons, and, as always, these reasons are not the ones that they tell everyone about.
As I have stated before, America is not all that hot to capture bin Laden as they claim to be. Not only is that guy a major terrorist, but he has lots and lots of information that would be very embarrassing and damaging for Washington if it ever became public. His whole story revolves around America, they were the ones that taught him everything that he knows about terrorism, and America does not want that story coming out at a trial or anything like that. They have enough of a problem with that on their hands with Saddam and the shit that he knows. America now has to find a way to stall his trial until he dies in custody like Tariq Aziz did the other day so no embarrassing secrets come to light. Saddam was a fuckin' asshole that did not even have the decency to be killed in battle like a real military leader or to commit suicide like Hitler did to avoid capture, that pussy surrendered without a fight. Of course, he did so do fuck America over, as he knew that he had too many secrets about America to be put on trial, and he seems to think that it's funny to just stay alive and have the USA support him for the rest of his life because they are afraid of what he might reveal if he ever went to trial. America never expected that, they were sure that Saddam would never be taken alive, much like his two sons weren't, but the old man was a jagoff, and now he has made America deal with him. Usama bin Laden is an even bigger fish in this whole terrorist thing than Saddam, and he had even more dealing with America over the years on much higher levels, and he knows far more shit that Saddam ever could hope to, so he could embarrass America much more at a trial. Washington figured that he would either be killed in a battle like Tora Bora or commit Suicide too, but now they are not so sure. Since America knows so little about Islamic culture, they figured that if these leaders like Saddam and bin Laden were not captured alive, that they would become some sort of Holy Martyrs to the Islamic people, sxaints to be venerated forever, and Washington thought that this was what they would want, so they would never be captured alive. Well, they found out otherwise with Saddam, and they are starting to think that bin Laden might very well be the same way. America now thinks that they would end up having to kill untold numbers of his underlings to get at him, and that he would just surrender meekly like Saddam did, and not even put up a fight, giving the troops no excuse to summarily execute him, like they wanted to with Saddam but were unable to. If that happened, America would have not just one, but two very high profile POWs that could potentially embarrass Washington no end and even cause major scandals within the government, and that would suit bin Laden much more than being shot by a Marine and becoming some kind of Holy Martyr, because by being captured and spilling what he knows, he could cause the chaos within the American government that he was unable to cause in 2001, and essentially put Part Two of his evil terrorist plan into motion. Washington realizes that now, and that's a big part of why they scaled back the hunt for bin Laden. However, that does not mean that America has thrown in the towel here and just given up, they have things covered about as well as they could here.
To begin with, all the bad publicity and attention that bin Laden attracted to himself and his organization after September 11th, 2001 has ended up making him increasingly irrelevant as far as the terror world goes. The dude is just too hot of a property to get involved with, and the terrorist scene has adjusted accordingly. There were all sorts of people ready and willing to take things over once bin Laden's time ran out, and they have done just that, and they are actually making the terrorist machine function much more efficiently than bin Laden did. Even though the networks of the old organizations were disrupted and broken by America, the terrorists were able to adapt to that and keep things flowing using different means. Usama bin Laden is no longer a real active terrorist leader, he is now more of an inspirational figure, like George Washington or some such shit, and he does not play active roles in much of anything anymore. He knew that this would happen after September 11th, 2001 ,and he is fine with it, in fact, he helped lay the groundwork of how the terrorist scene would operate after he was no longer running it anymore. He essentially lives in retirement over in those caves and mountains that he frequents, serving as more of an inspiration to today's generation of terrorists than as an active participant. Washington is well aware of that, and that is part of the reason why they have scaled back on him, because they know that he has essentially been rendered ineffective and that there are new threats to watch out for. So, America is relieved to not have to waste so much time and manpower and money over in those fuckin' mountains on that dude, especially as how they are stretched so thin now and stretching it thinner all the time, they have enough people and equipment over there to keep an eye on the dude and make sure that he does not get outside those mountains, so they can use the rest of the manpower where they need it more, like in Iraq. Secondly, there is the question of bin Laden's health. The dude is not a healthy guy, he has kidney problems, and has to undergo dialysis on a regular basis (although how he does that in caves is a mystery), and that hard life that America has made him lead these last three years is also taking its toll on him. However, not as much of a toll as washington would like, for this new policy towards him means that America knows that he is not as sick as they thought that he would be by now, and that he is not about to drop over dead anytime soon. That would mean that Washington knows that they are going to have to deal with the dude for a while more yet, and they are hunkering down for that. It is starting to seem as if life in the mountains and caves of Afghanistan/Pakistan is not as harsh for bin Laden as it would seem. All that America had was those videotapes of him that showed him in some caves, and those caves were not very well furnished, like the one that he is bunking down in during that one video. So, Washington apparently concluded that he was living like a modern day caveman, and that this living would take its toll on him real fast, seeing that he was sick and all. However, it seems that those caves that he was videotaped in are not the caves that he stays in when he lives in the mountains. Since the guy has access to so much money, it is not inconceivable that he has furnished many caves into nice, plush quarters for himself. Far from being the dude that sleeps with insects and vermin that so many thought that he was, perhaps bin Laden is living in Saddam-like palaces that he created out of caves. It is just to hard to believe that a spoiled rich brat like him would live in stinking caves with the animals, that he would renovate the caves into suitable accommodations first before he ever moved in. It looks more and more like that is exactly what he did, and that he has the means to live that way for quite some time yet. Since Washington has that top-line spy equipment everywhere on Earth, they probably are aware of this fact, and decided to change their tactics accordingly. They are willing to play this waiting game with the dude if it saves Washington embarrassment and possible scandal. Don't believe otherwise, America knows exactly where Usama bin Laden is and they know exactly how he is living as well. As long as he stays where he is and just acts like George Washington to his followers, America is happy. That is why they dropped him from the Number One position on their hit list, and he will continue to fall further down that list, albeit quietly as the conflict that he started continues to mushroom into all sorts of other conflicts and problems for America and the world at large. Yes, America still hates the guy for what he did, but they can no longer worry so much about punishing him for it, as they have far more pressing problems on their hands and will for a long time to come, so like all Number Ones, Usama bin Laden has begun his steady fall down the charts, as others come to take his place. Unfortunately, this is far more serious than any Billboard Music Chart shit, and the consequences of it all are starting to show themselves in far too many ways.
