October 12, 2003- Overstaying The Welcome

Six months have now passed since America took full control of Iraq away from Saddam and the Ba'athists. When that first happened, we here in America saw endless films of overjoyed Iraqis dancing and singing in the streets, welcoming the Americans with open arms and kisses and the like. It seemed as if the people of Iraq really were every bit as happy to see that the Americans had come to overthrow Saddam as the White House and Pentagon said that they'd be. To look at these scenes, it seemed as if the idea of America coming into Iraq and throwing out the tyrannical regime and installing a government that was for the Iraqi people could be a reality, and that President Bush had been right when he said that this was the case. However, if you look at how things have panned out over the last six months, you see a different picture. I have enumerated these things many times over the last six months, so there is no need to get into them here. Because of these events of the last six months, the attitudes of the Iraqi people and the Muslim world as a whole towards this whole situation have changed quite a bit. Whereas at first, the Americans were welcomed as liberators, now there are increasing signs that they are seen as occupiers and that the Iraqi people want them to get the fuck out. America has been trying to deal with this by saying that they have installed a ruling coalition, and that this coalition is the first step towards bringing Iraq to freedom and democracy. But it seems that many Iraqis are not willing to give this coalition a chance. They see it as the first step in a long process of having America occupy their country for years to come and never truly turn power over to them. They know enough to know that the American story of turning power over in a matter of months is nothing but a fairy tale, and they do not like that at all. So some of them have taken matters into their own hands. One of Iraq's most powerful Shi'ite Muslim leaders, Moqtada al Sadr, said that he was going to form a new government. He said that his government will not include terrorism or occupation and that there would be religious ministries in it and so forth. He said this shit during prayers in his mosque last Friday. Now, no one knows for sure if the dude really does have what it takes to form any kind of government at all. They do know that he has enormous influence among the Shi'ites of iraq, who are the majority there. At the very least, his declaration is going to stir these people up and make them think that he can do it. That will show them that there are ways other than the ways that America is using, and that does not make the Pentagon or White House very happy. Just the declaration of a rival government is enough to inspire the crazies in Iraq into action, and there are more than enough of those there as it is causing America way too many problems. America does not even need to hear about the formation of any rival government. So they were none too pleased to see hundreds of Iraqis taking to the streets in support of this shadow government of al Sadr's. This has all happened because of America's policies these last six months. They left al Sadr out of the ruling coalition, even though he is the leader of a group called the Mehdi Army, which is a strong organization with thousands of members, so he has decided to fuck with the USA and do this shit. Al Sadr never fought against America when they came in, and he feels snubbed that he has been left out, as do many other Muslim leaders. So he wants to see America leave, and is trying to convince his followers of that too. So that makes things rather difficult in Iraq. One of the things that America has said about their actions is that they enjoyed the support of most Muslim nations because Saddam was evil and bad for Islam and so on. The reality is that all Muslim nations know that none of them can really stand up to the USA because they just are not strong enough. If America wants something from the Muslims, it will get it just because it I9s bigger and stronger. The Muslim nations wanted to avoid any problems with America, so they gave tactic support for the invasion. In reality, they were totally against it from the start. But they had to let America do what it wanted to do or risk getting caught up in it themselves. Six months later, and it is a different story. It is now America that cannot do anything to any Muslim nation that does not support their actions, because America is stuck way too deep in Iraq as it is, and just cannot do anything to anyone else right now. All the bluster and rhetoric that America says to the contrary is precisely that, bluster and rhetoric. America is stuck with Iraq whether or not Islamic nations or anyone else supports them or not. So the Muslims are now saying that America needs to clear The fuck out of Iraq immediately. There is a conference of Muslim nations scheduled to be held in Malaysia this week. Already, the subject of America's role in Iraq is being discussed. Nation after nation is coming out against America's occupation of Iraq, and they are all saying that America needs to leave Iraq as soon as possible. That is, all of them except Turkey. They are the only ones sticking up for America. If you'll remember, they were the ones that refused to give America permission to use their air bases that are in Turkey in the Iraq war. Now, they are standing up for America and defending the invasion and occupation of Iraq. Since all the other Islamic nations are turning against America now, Turkey seems to figure that if they support America, the fact that they refused to give their permission six months ago will be forgotten and they will continue to get that American aid that they need so desperately. The other Muslim nations are not indebted to the USA in any way, they have their own sources of money and Turkey by and large does not. So that explains this sudden show of support from Turkey for the USA. However, that will make no difference at the summit, where a declaration is expected to be issued that says that all members of this organization want America to leave Iraq now. This is going to be broadcast on the various forms of media in the Muslim countries endlessly to ensure that everyone knows that they said it. This will serve to do nothing more than unify the Islamic world against the Americans and the occupation of Iraq. No matter what propaganda that America spits out, this mentality will not be broken. The Islamic world is coming closer and closer to uniting as one over this issue, and that does not bode well for America at all.

America has to realize that they have vastly overstayed their welcome in Iraq, and they do. The Generals and other Pentagon men there are reporting faithfully to their superiors on how the situation is so the Pentagon and White House are fully aware of the depths of this sentiment, they don't need a fuckin' Islamic Holy Man assembling a government or a declaration from any fuckin' Muslim conference to tell them that, they already know it. The answer is that America just does not fuckin' care what they think. The most important thing here is getting Mr. Businessman the money from the Iraqi oil. That is all that this whole thing has ever been about, no matter what the Pentagon and White House may say to the contrary. At first, the Iraqi people believed it, because they were taught that America never lies and that they were sincere about their desire to see the Iraqis live free. So they welcomed the Americans with singing and dancing and merriment and mirth. That was where they fell into America's trap. For while they were singing and dancing and the like, America was consolidating their power, which does not take long in a war-ravaged country. That was why all that looting occurred, it distracted everyone from seeing what America was doing with its power grab. It was allowed because the journalists were all busy covering that and were not there when America took everything over. By the time that the smoke cleared and the dust settled, America was firmly in control and poised to do as it pleased. Remember, America thought that they would have a much harder time fighting the Ba'athists then they did, so they were not totally prepared for the mission of taking everything over right away without being able to seriously propagandize the citizens first. There was no time where America was able to broadcast its propaganda to the Iraqis and tell them what they wanted them to believe. They had to just take over right away. So they just let anarchy take over for a while and consolidated power. Now that things have settled down, the Iraq people are starting to see that they are just under the rule of another iron fist, just not Saddam's. They can tell that America had absolutely no plan as top what to do with them, the citizens, just plans on how to pump the oil money to Mr. Businessman. That has pissed them off plenty. So now they have turned against America the same way that they turned against Saddam. This is about as volatile a situation as you can get. But America keeps blindly pushing on with its policy of enriching the right people first and foremost, and everything else comes after that. That policy will eventually lead to disaster. The Iraqi people want exactly what America said that they were going to give them, and that is a free and democratic society that they themselves control. When they see American soldiers going down their streets with weapons at the ready, they don't see much freedom or democracy. All they see is an occupying force. That gives every fuckin' Islamic Holy Man fuel to stir the people up against America just because they have been snubbed or whatever. The Holy Men are never the ones that have to do any of the fighting or other dirty work themselves, they have their zealous followers for that. If they have a grudge against America for whatever reason, all they have to do is go to the mosque on Friday and make a stirring political speech that rails against the American occupying force and get the pilgrims all steamed up and ready for action. That is starting to happen in mosques all across Iraq each and every Friday. The Holy Men are using the common people to settle their own personal grudges, just like always. The Holy Men don't give a fuck about what happens to Iraq, they can always go somewhere else, because they are Holy Men. If they cannot gain any political power in Iraq, then they would just as soon destroy Iraq as best they can so that no one else gets anything out of it either. They will do that too, because they are that petty. They are just politicians hiding in Holy Man's clothing, and we all know how petty politicians are. So if America just continues to be concerned with enriching Mr. Businessman and not much else, they are going to have an increasingly restive population on their hands. They will also have all sorts of Holy Men that will be more than happy to get that restive populace all worked up against America. The only thing that will result will be some sort of civil war or an uprising by the Iraqis against America. Mr. Businessman's money will be of no use in stopping this once it starts. In fact, something like this can ensure that he will not be making any more money of of Iraq. So it would be in America's and Mr. Businessman's best interests to get this all settled and set up that Iraqi government that they promised. The problem with that is that America is so hung-up on the fact that they are bigger and stronger than anyone else that they feel that they can just use brute force to get their way in every situation. America feels that they just have to squash all opposition and the money will flow endlessly. They are going to find out that they cannot squash the people of Iraq no matter how hard they try. Everything is pointing to a war of the Iraqi people against the American military, and that would not be good for anyone. America would be forced to use extreme tactics against the Iraqis, and the American public would be horrified at what they would see from that. There would be worldwide condemnation of these tactics, and America would be isolated more than they are already. There would also be the little fact of a war that could be endless, costing America untold dollars and lives. As long as Mr. Businessman and his interests are the primary focus of America's policies in Iraq, violence, war, and anarchy will be ever-present. America needs to act on the fact that they have overstayed their welcome in Iraq and either set up the Iraqi government that they promised, or, if they can't, find someone like the United Nations or whoever that can do it. No matter how rich and powerful Mr. Businessman may be, he is always outnumbered by the ordinary people, and their interests have to be considered. If they are not, a volatile situation like the one that we have now in Iraq is the inevitable result. The problem is that Mr. Businessman is so fucked-up that he looks at it as if he cannot have it all, then no one gets anything and if violence, war, and anarchy are the result, so be it. That attitude will eventually lead to the destruction of everything, and America will see that in Iraq if things are not changed soon.
