It looks that way because it is that way. There is a whole other reason that America is doing this, and it has zero to do with anything other than politics. It is no surprise or coincidence that all of this is happening as the electoral process in Iraq starts to hit the homestretch. We have had the first round of elections there, we have had a Constitution drafted and enacted, and now all that is left is for the last round of elections to be held sometime late this year, December I think. Once that is done, the entire political system that America said it set up for Iraq will be in place and running, and that means that the troops might just be able to start to come home. This was supposed to be why America went into Iraq to start with, to set this all up, and now it coming to the end of that process. There is one major hitch in that process though. If the Iraqi people vote no to the Constitution in that next election, that means that everything is down the drain, that everything has to start all the fuck over again from scratch, and that means an extended American military presence in Iraq. Bush wants to get the troops out of Iraq not so much to appease the increasingly disenchanted American people, but to free them up so that he can continue with his plan, and invade Iran like he wants to so badly. To do that, Iraq has to be taken care of first, and that has taken way longer than Bush expected. So he wants these elections to go ahead in December, and he wants the Constitution to win so that he can look like he was right all along and can indeed change an entire nation into what God wants it to be like. Then, after a period of celebration, it will be off to Iran and more of the same, as Bush will be buoyed by his Iraqi success. All of that hinges on the Iraqi people voting yes on Election Day, and that is nowhere near a sure thing. America has tried and tried to make it one, but that has just not happened and will not happen either. That is because of one thing, the way that America has presented themselves to the Iraqi people. We all remember the wild scenes that greeted the American troops as they steamrolled into Iraq, the people singing and dancing and welcoming the Americans with open arms. Many Iraqis genuinely wanted change, they fucking hated Saddam and his regime, and thought that America could indeed deliver on the promises they made. As time went on, it became increasingly clear to them that America had no intention of delivering on the promises they made, that all they wanted to do was occupy Iraq and steal its wealth. Seeing more and more of their family members, friends, and fellow citizens killed by the Americans did not help either. It was always the ordinary people that bore the brunt of the American military assaults, Not these shady Holy Men that were supposedly brainwashing them against America. There was no reason for any Holy Man to do that either, America was brainwashing the people against them just fine by themselves. The Iraqis turned against the Americans not because of any fanatics at the mosque on Friday, but because they saw that the Americans cared zero about them just like Saddam did, worse even, as Saddam was at least one of them, and the Americans are all outsiders come to Iraq to conquer and plunder.
That has made the new Constitution a tough sell throughout a lot of Iraq. Many that would have voted for it in the past are now going to be against it, because they see it as a document drafted by America that favors no one except them. That is not a delusional idea either, as that Constitution has some serious defects, the biggest one being who gets the lion's share of the power in Iraq under it. That is heavily tipped towards the Sunnis, with the Shi'ites bering flat out fucked over by it. The Kurds do not get any big things out of this document either, they have also been largely shut out of things as well. It is just the Sunnis that get all the spoils, and they get them because Washington has deemed them worth of it all. This Constitution that America has made is nothing more than a tired old rerun of the ways that the West has dealt with the Middle east ever since they came there. What they always have done is to find out what the feuds between the local peoples are and to exploit that for their own good. They have always gone and found one faction that will play ball with them and they have adopted that faction and made them the major players in the scene they set up. Other groups get shut out of everything unless they also play ball, and sometimes that is not even good enough, as this divisiveness is essential to the West so that they can pit one faction off against another. That has them going at each other all the time and it divides their attentions so that the West can do whatever it wishes and take whatever they please, and by the time the locals find out what has happened, it is too late. That shit has gone on for decades now, and America has not changed it one iota. Every Constitution they have proposed has favored the Sunnis by a large margin, and that never changes. It is not even that Washington likes the Sunnis better than the Shi'ites or Kurds, they don't like any of them, after all, they are all Muslims, and America does not like Muslims. The Sunnis cannot be trusted any more than the others, they have no more affection for America than the others, they hate America as much as anyone else in the Islamic world. It is just that Washington had to pick someone to be the favorites when they invaded so that they could essentially keep Iraq in a state of Civil war so that America could keep running things and never turn anything over to the Iraqis. That is al that the Constitution has to offer, and the Shi'ites know that too, so they are not very happy with the whole thing. They feel that they could be America's favorites just as well as the Sunnis can, and they are right on that, and the fact that they are not has made them turn against the Constitution big time. That has led to some serious politicking by America trying to get them to change their minds on this all and to accept the Constitution even though it is a shitty deal for them. Washington tries to tell them that it is not that shitty of a deal after all, but they offer no proof to back that up. That means that the people see no reason to vote yes on Election Day, because they do not care if the whole thing has to start all over again because they get zero out of it, so fuck the elections. That freaks Bush and Washington out no end, and they have decided that they have to do something about it, and we are seeing that now.
They have tried to get the recalcitrant Iraqis to accept what they want by political persuasion, but they have seen that these Iraqis are a hard-boiled lot and won't accept their bullshit. That would leave Washington with two options. One would be that they just take their chances on Election Day and hope that they have brainwashed enough Iraqis into their ways to get the Constitution passed. However, the stakes are just too high for that, there is just no way that they could do anything if the election was against them. There are going to be too many people there monitoring and watching things to pull off any massive vote fraud, so that's out. Trying to use political persuasion to sway the people between now and then is not going to work either, because that Constitution is not about to be amended in any way, not after it took so long to draft to begin with, and the general unfairness of it is what has so many people against it. Since no one will make it any fairer between now and Election Day, the people have already made up their minds, and no amount of politicking will change their minds. No rebuilding roads or restoring 24 hour electrical service or clan water will make any difference either, the people won't look at that as proof that the Constitution is really for them, they'll see it as shit that finally happened that was way overdue. Any of these improvements that America might make will only give the people back what they had under Saddam and underscore what America has taken from them in their minds. So there seems to be no way that Washington can get enough Iraqis to back the Constitution to make it a sure thing, so they had to do the thing that America knows best, resort to the use of force to get what they want. The "shock and awe" tactics are in full swing again with all these Operation Iron Fists and the like. What America is doling is telling the Iraqis that they have to vote yes on Election Day or else they'll be slaughtered. The scores that have already been killed are ones that won't be able to vote no on Election Day, and if the rest do not want to follow in their footsteps, they need to obey Washington. If it takes the total obliteration of a city and its inhabitants, so be it, and that's what Washington is doing. They are laying waste to these cities so badly that they just will not be able to be part of the elections in December because they'll be wrecked so badly. The people that remain won't be worried about the elections either, they'll be too busy trying to survive under hellish conditions. So that means that entire Shi'ite areas will be knocked out of commission on Election Day and be unable to cast their no votes. America will not delay the elections until these cities are rebuilt, they will proceed as scheduled. The major cities like Baghdad will all be participating, and those cities are all that the average America knows, so they won't even be aware that things are not proceeding in other cities where people were opposed to the Constitution. That is why America is conducting all these raids across Iraq right now allegedly looking for renegade Holy Men, what they are really doing is cracking down on the people that would have voted no in too great of numbers on Election day. That is how the people of these towns and cities have made themselves the enemy, by practicing the free political choice that America says it came there to instill. However, that free political choice of theirs is not the one that Washington wanted them to choose, so they have to be shown the errors of their ways. No one shall question them doing that either, as those that would are under siege and silenced that way, and the American people will be fooled by using the boogeyman of terrorism to cover up what is being done. What Washington is essentially saying is that those that opposes the Constitution is a terrorist, the type of person that they are at war against. That just shows how much of a sham that Constitution really is and how Washington is cruelly using it as another means to consolidate power in Iraq. No one had a real voice in that Constitution, and those that have realized that fact are now being brutally suppressed and killed by Washington. All that is being cracked down on is political opposition, not terrorism or insurgency of any kind. Washington has lost patience with the slow pace of its war plans, and they want to move on to the next phase of them, and they are doing what they feel they have to do in order to get that done. The fact that this plan makes a mockery of the very Constitution and principles that they say they are bringing to Iraq does not matter here. The Iraqi people have realized this too late and now they are paying for that and that is why the coming election is just another cruel fucking joke on them and the very ideals that America says it stands for.
