October 1, 2007- More Manageable
When America first went into Iraq in 2004,
they swore that they were not going there to carve the country up in
any, either by ethnic/religious lines or by looting it blind either.
President Bush said that he was sending the troops in for themost
humanitarian of reasons, to help the por beleagured Iraqi people that
suffered so under Saddam get the life that they deserved. There was no
preference at all given to any particular types of Iraqis, no group
over the others, Bush said that America was going in there for the sake
of all the Iraqis. He was told that if America went in there,
that it could very well set all kinds of ancient ethnic andf racial
tensions way over the top, but Bush thought that this was just anti-war
hysteria, he looked at Iraq and saw all these various ethnic and
racial grouyps living together and felt that America coiuld achieve the
same thing, after all, Saddam was evil and he did it, so why not the
great shining knight America? However, these people that warned of an
impending calamity in Iraq told Bush that the various groups in Iraq
did not live together because they liked one another, they did so
because Saddam used the most ruthless and hardcore of tactics to keep
it that way. He forced the people to live as one Iraqi nation instead
of their backgrounds, but even that did not sway Bush, as nothing
does once God speaks to him directly. What he envisioned for Iraq was
something along the lines of America, a place where all sorts of people
of differing ethnic and religious backgrounds live in the same cities
and such, one of the benefits of that freedom that he was determined to
bring to the Iraqi people. As always, Bush believed that the power of
America was so fucking strong that it could conquer anything , even
millennia of hatreds and distrusts between the people in Iraq. The way
that he looked at it was that these poor people has never, ever
known freedom in their history, they were always ruled by one type of
despot or another that used these divisions among them to their
advantage and exploited it and kept everyone under their
servitude. Once they were truly free, they'd forget all those ancient
hatreds and grudges and go about siezing the myriad opportunities that
America had brought them. That was the plan going in circa 2004 and
that was the plan that Washington implemented once they got it. There
were all those rounds of elections to this and that, and the only
disqualifications were if you either belonged to the Ba'ath party or
were a Muslim Holy Man, but other than that, everyone was free to run,
any religion or race. There were people of all religions and races
winning shit in Iraq, even some women, so the vision that Bush got from
God for the country seemed to be working out pretty good. It seemed
that the people of Iraq were now used to living and working together,
whether or not force was used to make them do so and were going to
continue to do so under American rule. Maybe the old hatreds and feuds
and grudges had been forgotten finally and the peopole were really
ready to live and work together as one. Washington was looking to
govern the country as one entity as Saddam did, they built a central
base in Baghdad like he did and planned to run the show from there like
he did too. There seemed to be no need to partition the country along
any ethnic or religious lines at all, that all that Ameriuca had to do
was to put downj th einsurgency once and for all and then they'd
be able to build the nation that they wanted there and make the
whole war thing look worthwhile. A lot was at stake here, as
governing Iraq as one like Saddam did was a big goal for
Washingtron, and a major building block of the new, American made Iraq.
But then things started going downhil in a fucking
hurry. What started out as a war between America and the
insurgents/freedom fighters or whatever you want to call them quickly
because a multi-sided conflict with foes coming out from everywhere. It
did not take that long for those ancient hatreds to gain a whole new
meaning among a new generation, ans they started right up again where
they had left off in previous generations. The Sunni Muslims took up
arms against the Shi'ite Muslims and the Kurds took up arms againt them
both, and both of them took up arms against the Kurds, and the fight
was on again big-time, this time with modern methods. These factions
started killing one another with as much gusto as they used to do and
for the same old reasons as well. What started as a war against
occupiers became a Civil War and has continued to get worse and worse
alonmg those lines. The main reason that iraq is such a hellbroth of
chaos right now is not because of what America is doing, but because
everyone that has any kind of grudge against anyone else there has
taken up arms and is looking to settle a score or three. That
makes it impossible for America to get any kind of security or safety
in the country at all because at first, they knew who they were
fighting against and that was only one enemy, but now, there are
infinite enemies and the number just keeps growing, so they do not know
which way to turn now. The three main combatants that everyone warned
Bush about, the Sunnis, Shi'ites and Kurds are all killing one another
with no end in sight. In fact, that conflict has become the main event
in Iraq, the American/insurgent battle gets second billing now, so it
is seriously undermining the American efforts. A main problem is that
America has no idea who they could side with in all of this, because
the loyalties and allegiances shift from day to day and none of these
entities likes America or wants them in Iraq anyway, so they'll all
play the game that they are buddy-buddy with Washington and then
doublecross them at the first chance they get. All three of these
sides have done that and wil always do that, so there are no allies
that America can court in any way in this thing, and since they are
trying to be the big dogs and run the country, they have to be in
cahoots with one of these factions so that they can help that faction
put the others down for good again. But since all of these fuckers are
fighting against America as well as against one another, none of them
makes any kind of a partner at all, and that makes it damn impossible
for America it build much of anything in Iraq. This whole sectarian
strife scene has essentially negated the results of those elections
that Washington touted so and had segregated Iraq like it has not been
in many a year. What has happened is that instead of making Iraq into
some kind of America and having everyone living together
side-by-side and happy, what America has done is to divide that land
like it has not been divided in a long time and to set the people
against one another more than they have been in ages as well. That is
making it increasingly difficult for America to keep even the limited
control that it has in Iraq, and with the mood of the American people
definetly changed over that conflict, this spells bad news for
Washington. No amount of American "shock and awe" style force can keep
this from happening, they have tried, and now Washington has to deal
with the reality that they cannot get the Iraqis to live together in
any sort of peace or harmony. That fuckks the plans up, so something
else has to be done, and a new plan in indeed in place.
It looks like Washington is getting ready to do exactly
what they said that they were not going to do whern they went in, and
that is partition Iraq along these sectarian lines. As much as they do
not want to, they see that they have zero choice in the matter if they
ever want to stabilize the country at all. If Washington continues to
pursue this policy of making Iraq into a little America, they'll never
get anywhere or be able to set up jackshit. The society will stay in
ruins and go nowhere and become a huge albatross around America's neck.
Yes, Washington wants an eternal conflcit there, but one that they can
make sure is a stalemate, not one that keeps them from implementing
their policies. They know that these three sides are going to be
sniping at each other for a long time to come, and that this
fighting will always be at such a level that it justifies a
continous American military presence in Iraq so they'll get their
excuse to stay there. However, they cannot have this continuous state
of anarchy and chaos that has become Iraq because that shi tis pissing
off the American people no end and if it continues to be a bloodbath
with no end or resolution in sight, the people will really demand that
the troops get the fuck out of Iraq. Considering that we are just 13
months away from the perhaps the biggest Presidential election in
American history, that scares a lot of the warmongers because
they are deathly afraid that the plug could be pulled on their little
party next November, so they need to do something about that now to
ensure that this does not happen. What they have come up with is a plan
to divide iraq into those aforementioned three seperate mini
countires, with the Shi'a, Sunnis and Kurds all having their own
little fifedoms. America would stay in Baghdad and run the whole
thing (or at least try to) from there and the other three could hash
things out among themselves. This was not the way that Washington
wanted to run things, but they have come to the realization that
they are not ever going to be able to run things that way no matter how
hard they try, so they now look at this partitioning thing as an easier
way to run Iraq. They figure that once they give all three groups their
own mini lands, that they'll start politically fighting among
themselves over how to best run this land and that will slow down the
pace of the killings and shit greatly. That will make it easier for
America to run the partitioned country because they'll go back to
fighting against one enemy only, the insurgents, and the others will
not bother them so much. Washington feels that they can sell this
to the American people because they know that the American people do
not live together in this great peace and harmony that the
peopagandists say they do, that they understand not wanting to be
around "others" , and they'll accept shit like that in Iraq, especially
if it slows down the pace of the war. They don't give a
fuck about Iraq anyway, that place is on the other side of the earth
and if Americans can stop dying there in such large numbers, they'll
accept anything over there. They are not going to hold Bush and the
Administration to their words and say they are going back on anything,
if partitioning is the way to have some semblance of normalcy in Iraq,
so be it. So that seems to be the new Iraq policy in Washington,
everyone says that they are quietly getting ready to implement it soon,
so we shuld get ready for a Kurdistan, Shi'astan and Sunnistan inside
of Iraq all under the auspices of Washington via Baghdad.
The problem is, that this has very little chance of
working successfuly at all. One huge issue here is exactly what part of
Iraq each of these grouips gets, there is a huge difference in
various parts of Iraq, some are arid and worthless, and others havge
valuable natural resources, not the least of which is oil. None of
these groupos wants the shitty parts, they all want the good stuff, but
only one of them really can get it. The traditional Kurdistan
region in the north of Iraq is not a very fertile place at all, but it
is where the Kurds have lived in Iraq for generations but thye really
do not ewant that area for thei rown because it is a shitty area, so
that is an issue with them, they want some traditional Sunni or
Shi'a lands. Issues like these are a large part of why these
group hate each other to begin with, and partitioning is
not going to help that any. Saddam realized that if he wanted to be a
big timne leader, that he had to have one large Iraq, not mini-states
within it, so he used force and other such ruthless tactics to keep it
all together and it worked. He did the same shit that other
secular tyrants had dome before him there, used force to keep the
country large and powerful. Iraq becomnes a Third World backwater if
you carve it up into three mini states like that, and dictators
have realized that for millennia, and America is going to realize the
same thing too. It is not going to be easier for them to govern a
paritioned state, it wil be much harder. What will Washington do when
one or all of these three mini states starts saying that it is a real
nation and making all these demands and shit, saying they'll secede
from iraq and so forth. You give these dudes these mini states and say
they are theirs, you are asking for just that a lot sooner rather than
later. America does not need a USSR-style headache with various states
proclaiming independence and such, as that will not help govern
Iraq at all. Eventualy, these mini states are going to tell
America that they have no authority there and to stay the fuck
out and Washington is going to have to drop everythig to go deal
with that shit. If America does partition Iraq like that, then they
embolden every other ethic and religious group in the country that will
suddenly say that they are a state too, and America will have a fucking
huge mess on its hands. There will be no way that they can administer
to Iraq whern they have to invade Kurdistan or Shi'astan or
Sunnistan and do the same shit that they did in Iraq over
again three more times. The only way that you can effectivbely govern
Iraq is to have it all in one state, and that was why the tyrants kept
doing that. Since they were all from the area and understood the whole
thing, they knew that it was much easier to put them all together and
govern that way, but America is an outsider and does not see that and
thinks that they have to parition. Back in the long ago day, the
leaders of the area tried doing that time after time and they failed
time after time and found out that they could not divide and conquer
that way. America is no different if they try the same thing, they'll
fail too, only this time, when they fail, the whole world wil be
watching. Far from making things easier, the paritioning will just make
things infinetly harder for America in Iraq as if they don't have it
hard enough there already. It is an idea that failed in centuries past,
and it failed for reasons, and those reasons have not changed simply
because it is now the 21st century, and if America tries it now,
they'll surely fail again just like the others have before them.
