September 26, 2002-Two For One

The notion of tow for one is something that started in the business world. Merchants realized that they could increase business and also profits in the long run, if they had a deal where someone could buy one of whatever they were selling and get a second one for free, that the consumers would like that deal. Well, that has been a very successful business tactic ever since it was first tried way back in the day, whenever that was. Two for one sales have been a staple of the business world ever since. Our current President here in America is a man that came from a business background. So he saw the success of the two for one concept. As he rose through the ranks of the business world, he used this tactic to his advantage just like he was taught to by the other businessmen. In fact, he used that tactic to promote his party's ticket when he ran for President back in 2000, like any Presidential candidate does. After all, that is one of the biggest two for one deals going, you not only vote for the President, the highest office in the world, but you also vote for the Vice-President that is running as part of the ticket as well. So Bush had to sell Dick Cheney as part of his two for one deal, and that was not easy. However, he sold him well enough to make the election so close that a court had to decide just who had one, making a mockery of the idea of the American people electing their leader. Be that as it may, Bush sold the two for one idea well enough so that he is the 43rd President of the USA, and Al Gore is not. So it seems that he learned his lessons well when he was in the business world. Now he is trying to use that training once again to make the biggest two for one deal that he has ever made in his life. We are, of course, talking about the war scene. It is becoming rather apparent that Bush wants America to fight two wars at once. Even the media is portraying it that way. They speak of the War On Terror and the impending War against Iraq as two different wars. However, Bush is still holding on to his point that this Iraq shit is part and parcel of the Terror War., He is pointing to some sort of evidence that he says shows that Saddam gave Al-Queda members shelter and training over the last few years to make this point. He also is now getting some support from America's allies. Tony Blair, the Prime Minister of England, released a report the other day that he says shows the connection between Saddam and Al-Queda. He released that report like one hour after I finished the last column, the fucker. It was a 50 page job that went on and on about the various evils of Saddam and his regime. It talked about that lady that has been dubbed "Dr. Germ" because she has supposedly has helped Saddam make all sorts of germ and other biological warfare shit. It talked about Sddam's sons, and how they are in charge of a lot of shit now, like one that is charge of the nuclear weapons and shit, and how these types of weapons are moved every 15 days to houses and mosques and shit. Mr. Blair laid out all of this gathered intelligence to make a case why Britain should join forces with America to fight against Saddam and so forth. Blair no longer has any choice except to go along with Bush and fight this war, because Bush has dragged him into it anyway. As America's staunchest ally, where America goes, so goes Great Britain. So Blair had to say something as far as having a real reason to do this. But when he said it, he said nothing about joining up with America in the Terror War. He made references to it by calling Saddam and his henchmen terrorists, but he never said that England was going to join America in the War On Terror. So he is making it seem like there are two separate wars here. The American media is doing the same. When they speak of the Iraq situation now, they are speaking of it as a separate war from the Terror one. George W. And the rest of the White House boys are saying otherwise, but there are not too many listening to them anymore. They are still insisting that this is all one war because they have always been afraid of the bad press that they might get if they declare another war while this one is still going on. So they have been sticking to the story that everything is still all one war. But now it is starting to look like the American people and press won't freak out too much if there is another war declared here. When the press talks about the Iraq war as another different war, they are not critical in any way. It seems as if the mentality that Bush has tried to create for the last year is paying off here, it seems as if whatever Bush wants to do in terms of military shit, he shall do, and the American people will not oppose him in any way. Bush seems to be realizing this too. He is now going as far to say that anyone that does not unequivically support everything that he says is not concerned with the safety of the American people. He made just such a remark yesterday about Democratic politicians. He said that they were not concerned with the safety of the American people because some of them were not quite sure about some of the things that Bush is doing in the war scene, and none of these pertained to Iraq in any way.The main thing was the fact that Bush does not want to give ceratin employee benefits to those that work in the Homeland Security department, and the Democrats think that he should. For that, Bush referred to them as unconcerned about the safety of the American people. This is how arrogant he has become with this war shit. But it seems to have worked, for there is no real opposition to starting another war with Iraq around Halloween. Once Bush becomes secure in this knowledge, then he will know that the two for one thing has worked once again. For it is looking more and more like America is going to be fighting two wars simultaneously for the first time in its history. The two for one deal has really gone to the big time now.

When you look at this fact, it is one of the most shameful, repugnant things that has ever come about for many reasons. There are the reasons about why it is unnecessary, which I have been covering extensively both here and on the Hotline. Then there are the reasons why it is shameful. The biggest reason why America could even hope to do something like this is because it is such a strong power that has such a developed military machine. It is the fact that America is by far the most developed country ever that makes these two simultaneous wars possible. Other regimes have tried to fight two wars at once, most notably Hitler and the Nazi regime, but none has ever been successful. They fail because the military always has gotten stretched too thin. The Nazi wehrmacht was impressive indeed, but not impressive enough to be able to do that. However, 21st Century America is more than strong enough to do this, and not have much of a problem with it either, at least in theory. This is about the saddest fuckin' way that America could use its status as the most developed nation ever. The estimated cost of any war against Iraq is one billion dollars a day. A fuckin' day! But, that is not that much more than the last war with Iraq cost, or what the War On Terror is costing now. It seems that no cost is too great when it comes to war. Yet, the poor and indigent in America will still be as left out of things as they ever were. One billion dollars (that's $1,000,000,000) will be pissed away each and every day on war with Iraq, but not even one percent of that will be used to help the poor. Does the Pentagon really have that much money at its disposal? Well, if you look at the amounts of money that they dole out in contracts every workday, it sure seems that way. One billion dollars doled out in one day over there is routine,m especially on Fridays., when they seem to have to dish out three days worth of money on one day, because they cannot stand to have to take the two weekend days off. So it does seem as if the Pentagon has all the money in the world to dish out. However, there is an end to even their stash. With two simultaneous wars going on at a cost of one billion dollars a day each, I imagine that this end will come around faster than anyone thinks. The Pentagon realizes this too.. They want the two wars at once because that is doubly good for business. However, there is a caveat here. The War On Terrorism has indeed become a long, protracted, drawn out affair, like Bush warned that it might. It is obvious to one and all now that this is a war that will be going on for some time to come. The Pentagon wanted a quick win here, but there was no way that was going to happen, they found that out, and now realize that they are indeed in this for the long haul. So they are going to need a lot of money to keep this war going. So if they do start another war against Iraq, they almost have to make this one another short and sweet victory for the USA, like we had back in 1991. For those that don't recall, that war was over and done with in about 40 days or so. It still cost about 40 billion dollars though. But that is mere pocket change to the Pentagon. However, there are indications that another war with Iraq will be anything but the short, swift, ass-kicking that the other one was. Things are different this time, and America could well get bogged down in this war just like they have in the other one. Then, the costs start to escalate. So it is imperative that any war against Iraq be done quickly just like last time. That is why Bush is saying that he wants to use CIA Special Operatives and other such highly trained dudes to fight this war. He feels that they have the know how to be able to get this all done quickly and efficiently. That's why ,there has been so much two for one hard sell by Bush, he feels that he can take Saddam out quickly. Bush wanted it to look like this was just another operation In the Terror War, but it looks as if he will be seen as fighting two wars at once. He wants to get the Iraq shit over quickly so that he can avenge his daddy, and make it look like he has scored a victory in the War against Terror. That's his main motivation behind the two for one mentality that he has been pushing so hard.

However, if he is successful in winning one war against Iraq quickly and decisively while fighting the Terror War at the same time, that could portend nasty things for America. It would prove to Bush that America could indeed fight two wars at one time, and do well too. So he will be even more filled with his cowboy bravado, and get even more aggressive on this issue. Then, he could just go around and start other wars while the Terror one was still going on over and over again. There would be no more reason to even pretend that you were fighting different facets of the same war, you could just come right out and say that you were fighting two wars at once, or three, or whatever. Eventually, that would come back to bite you in the ass big time. You would inevitably start a second or third or whatever war that would not be one that you could win quickly or easily, or even win at all. It would then turn from the secondary war into the primary one, because you would be in a situation h=where you had way more of a fight on your hands then you thought you were going to have. You would then have to take away men and resources from the Terror war to fight this other one that you were doing poorly in. That would affect how the tide of the Terror War was going. No matter how well America might have been doling in it at the time, they would suffer in some way, because of the strain that the other war was putting on their resources. If this situation got bad enough, you could then have America losing two wars at once instead of winning them. This would not sit well with the American people, because as we all know, they want to back a winner every time, and losing two wars or more at once would not fit into their definition of that. This is where that very same huge groundswell of support that Bush and the Pentagon have been riding could turn into a backlash against them, a backlash that could cost them dearly in terms of losing their jobs and legacies and prestige and all of that. Not to mention the devastating effects that this could have on the American economy and society in general. So this particular two for one deal that President Bush is offering the American people comes with more than a few strings attached an guarantees of any kind, and that makes it about the shittiest two for one deal that has ever been offered, one that the American people should reject and demand something better.
