September 20, 2002- Nothing Is Satisfactory

Within the last few days, there has been more activity concerning the situation between America and Iraq. President Bush has been using every conceivable opportunity to try and plead his case for why America must go to war with Iraq to anyone that will listen, and to many that don't want to listen either, in short, everybody. In response to that, Iraq has said that they will comply with what Bush wants in order to avoid war, mainly, that they will allow United Nations weapons inspectors to come into Iraq unconditionally and look and see if they can find any weapons of mass destruction anywhere. This is what Bush has said would be necessary to avoid a war with America again. His case has been that Saddam Hussein has been rebuilding his nuclear and biological weapons arsenal once again and is poised and ready to menace the whole world with it. So the only way that he could be stopped short of a war was for him to let the United Nations weapons inspectors in unconditionally to look for weapons. At first, Iraq vehemently refused that. They said that there was no reason for these inspectors to be there, that was why they kicked them out in 1998. When Bush was "elected" President, he seized on this to start shit with Saddam. Once the Terror War was underway, he then used it to shift the focus on Iraq once again. Iraq continued to say no to inspectors until the other day, when they said that they would agree to the conditions that Bush set down, which were no conditions. Now that would seem to be the solution to the problem of Iraq wouldn't it? Alas, it is not so. Bush now says that this is not satisfactory. He says that this is all a game that iraq is playing, a game that America has seen before. He claims that it is all a shell game, buying of time, etc. Now all of a sudden, the man that said that he put such faith in these U.N. Weapons inspectors now says that they are going to do no good anyhow. He says that they are going to be bullshitted by Iraq just like they were before. Bush contends that they will not be given access to the area where the shit really is. That's because he says that these weapons and other assorted evil things are not located in any factory anywhere in Iraq. Rather, Bush says, they are located in places likes mosques and schools and private residences and Saddam's palaces and the like, and he says that these inspectors will not be allowed to go to these places, rather, they will be led on tour after tour of factories and warehouses all throughout Iraq that will have shit like baby formula and old people's stuff, and toilet articles and other necessary consumer needs, but no gas factories or bomb ones will be found, and Bush says that is bullshit, they are there. So now he says that letting the inspectors in is not good enough anymore, because if they are not permitted free access to every building in all of Iraq, then Bush will claim that these buildings are where the evil shit is at. So now the very condition that Bush himself set is no longer any good once Iraq decided to comply with it. It is starting to look like no matter what Iraq does, it will not be good enough for Bush to avoid a war with them. He seems absolutely determined to have America vs. Iraq, Round Two. I have gotten into the reasons why in previous columns. In this one, I want to explore this from the point of how hypocritical it is and why Bush has put others in a bad position with all of this shit.

Let's start with the sheer hypocrisy of it all. As we all remember, when Bush was running for president in 2000, he made all of these promises about how he was a "compassionate conservative" and shit. He defined this as someone that has conservative political views., but also had a lot of compassion for his fellow man and his plight. He pledged to use this to help mend the torn social fabric of America. He seems to have put that on the back burner now that the war has commenced. Not surprising. He needs to put all of this rhetoric aside to do what he wants to do with Iraq. How can he be "compassionate" when he is relentlessly pursuing a war against another country, regardless of who runs that country? There is no compassi0on here. None for the countless Iraqi civilians that will surely be maimed and killed in this war. For there is no way that Saddam can be deposed without killing massive amounts of the Iraqi populace. The current President's father fond that out back about eleven and a half years ago when he ran the first America-Iraq war. He had clear sailing all the way to Baghdad where he knew that Saddam was, and there was no more Iraqi army to help protect him as it had been decimated by the Allied forces. All that President Bush the First had to do was to give the order for the troops to advance and take Baghdad and get Saddam, and it would have been in motion. There was only one reason why it did not happen. That was because the American knew how deeply dug in Saddam was in Baghdad, and that he had it set up so that he was effectively hiding behind a huge portion of the civilian population. To get him, the American military would have had to kill scores of innocent civilians. That was the reason that Bush the First decided against that. He wanted to try other means of toppling Saddam, means that did not work out. Saddam had his ass dug in deeply in more ways than one, as America found out. He is still dug in that deeply today. There is still no way to remove him from power without having to kill large numbers of civilians. President Bush the Second knows this. He knows that he is going to have to murder many civilians to get at Saddam, and he does not seem to care about this. All he sees is that he wants to get Saddam to avenge Daddy. The fact that this tyrant has it set up so that you will have to kill a large percentage of the entire population to get at him is irrelevant to Bush. There is not a whole lot of compassion in an attitude like this, not according to the dictionary definition of the word. Conservatism, yes, but compassion, no. President Bush also professes to be a deeply religious man that puts his trust in God and all that shit. He says that he believes the Bible and so on. So it is very interesting to see him use that very same Bible and God to justify the war that he is so hard up to wage here. Like all good Christians, he professes to have great respect for humans and all of God's creations, just like the book says to do. If this is true, then why does he want to wage war? Where in the Holy Bible does it say to do that? Well, everywhere actually, the doctrine of that Bible was spread by warfare and warlike tactics for many a century. So Bush using it to justify war is no big stretch here. All it shows is the hypocrisy that is inherent in that book to start out with, hypocrisy that Bush adheres to stringently, hypocrisy that he is using right now to make his case for the war. If the Christian Bible is to be taken at face value, it says that war is bad and that man shall not kill other men. Bush is blatantly disregarding that here. Instead, he is hiding behind the facade of hypocrisy and lies that are the foundation of that book and the philosophies that come from it. He makes himself out to be a pious, holy man, but instead all that is to him is an excuse to act in whatever way he sees fit, as that philosophy that he adheres to has all sorts of built-in excuses to justify anything, namely the name of the liar Jesus Christ. Bush is a lair of equal proportions, and uses the same philosophy to justify his lies as Jesus did. So Bush just looks like the ultimate hypocrite with this unchangeable attitude towards Saddam, it shows neither compassion or holiness, neither piety or humanity, just hypocrisy and greed and selfishness.

For this attitude that Bush has about this war shit affects a whole lot of people in the world, given his position as President. It has not been a secret that the American people and politicians have not been real wild about this idea. There was muted support at best from both factions. Even politicians in Bush's own party were advising against this, saying that it was a bad idea and all that. All of the public opinion poll sthaty were taken in America said basically the same thing, that this was not a popular idea. Bush did not care about that shit. He was filled with the voice of God or something that was telling him that war was the only solution here. So he just ignored what the other politicians and the American people had to say. He has been relentlessly pressing for this war for months now. No matter what anyone said, he did not waver one bit from this attitude. It was clear that he wants this war badly. So the politicians and the American people were given a choice, either accept what he wants and go with it, or be seen as opposing the President, the fearless leader that guided America through the darkest times in its history and is possibly the most beloved figure in America since Babe Ruth. Bush has taken the events of the last year and used them to transcend himself from an ordinary President to the savior of the civilized world and the greatest, most fearless, most popular President that there has ever been. In short, he has made himself out to be the ultimate winning team, the greatest champion of all, and everyone knows that American want to back a winner, and Bush has made himself out to be the ultimate one of those. Since Americans are obsessed with backing the wining team, Bush has made himself out to be the one to back at all times. So any American, be they politician or citizen is backing a loser if they don;'t back Bush, that is what he has been saying for over a year now. So the politicians are seeing that they don't have a choice except to back Bush in this war thing. Even those that had ben opposed to any war before are now saying that they back Bush on this and they support his position and say that the evidence supports Bush and so forth. Many of them don't sound too sincere when they say that, but say that they do, they know that the citizens will want them to be backing the winning team, so that they can too, and being politicians, they will do anything that they think will make the voters vote for their asses. But Bush has forced them into this position by his relentlessness on this mater. He has done the same to America's world allies too. None of them wanted this war for many reasons, many of which I have stated in previous columns. There was not a single ally of America that thought that this war was a good idea. But once again, Bush disregarded them and what they thought. He was every bit as relentless towards these allies as he was towards the American people about everything. He made it clear to one and all that God Himself was telling him to go to war here and avenge his Daddy, so that he could get a good spot in Heaven or whatever. So America's allies were also given no choice except to accept what Bush wants, especially when Iraq started to lump them in with America as being war hawks. The latest war propaganda from Baghdad keeps on talking about how Washington and London are looking for war and all this shit. England wanted no part of any of this like everyone else, but now that Bush has dragged them into it like he has, they have no choice. Now they are saying that the MI5 has come up with documented proof that there are links between Iraq and Al Queda and that Bush is right in what he says, etc. Tony Blair has to come up with some sort of story to tell his people so that it at least looks like the English military has a reason to go into this alongside America. These "documents" are all bullshit of course., but Blair needs to have something to make it look like there is a reason for England to be involved in this. This scene is going to be repeated amongst all of America's allies as they realize that Bush is dragging them into all of this whether they like it or not, and they better get some kind of "proof" or "evidence" to show their people so that they don't get too pissed off about going into this war. This is how Bush seems to be going about "gaining international support" and "building a coalition" for this military action that he wants so fuckin' badly. He is bullying, pushing, dragging, etc. these allies into this fight. It is obvious that Bush is fuckin' obsessed with waging war against Iraq and he does not care what anyone thinks about it. That is why this Iraq war will be far more dangerous than the President's old man's Iraq war was for there is no real support either at home or abroad, and that is something that is crucial to an effort like this, and Bush will find this out soon enough, and then his policy of nothing being satisfactory will be shown to be the disaster that it is, but unfortunately, by then, it will be too late.
