September 11, 2008- One Last Hurrah

There is probably no one on earth that does not know what today is, that is, unless you have been living  on  a deserted island for the entire decade and even then, chances are that you would know what today is anyway. Seven years ago, a terrible tragedy happened that changed the way that most people see the world, and definetly changed the world forever. As always these last seven years, this day is going to be marked by endless ceremonies and speeches and TV specials and the like, in America, this entire week has been filled with those things, and it is going to be as inescapable in America today as it always has been ever since that shit all went down in 2001. September 11th, 2001 is commonly known in America as "the day the world changed" because the events of that terrible day have been lasting ever since and show no sign of slowing down. Many people think that this is necessary because they never want anyone to forget what happened that day seven years ago, and many Americans have still not gotten over it. The memorials that you'll see on TV all day today are sure to make many people every bit as hysterical and sad as they were that day and most Americans are still incapable of discussing the events of that day without freaking out all over again and getting wildly hysterical and the like. That is not a surprise, given how the events of that day have been portrayed in America these last seven years, there has yet to be any reporting of it in America that is not hysterical, mainly because most people simply will not allow it. The fact is that most Americans have no idea of how to react to that day, they never did, so they looked to the only place that they knew, the TV set, to tell them what to do, and the TV set was 24 of insane hysteria for weeks afterwards. That day is still a campaign issue in this Presidential election, seven years after the fact, and in many minds, it has only been seven days since that happened, not seven years. There is no question that America is a far different place now than it was seven years ago, the entire mentality of the country is different now. Just the fact that the country is fighting two wars that sprung out of that day shows how different things are, wars that have defined the country ever since. Never before had America had an instant war like that, a day that started like all others and ended with the country in a war against shadowy enemies that no one quite knew much about. Today has become a Pearl Harbor day deluxe, a day that lives in far more infamy than Pearl Harbor ever could, a day that all Americans are told that they must frealout all over again and get all worked up like it is happening again. Even the Waether Channel is in on the action, they are talking about the weather forecasts for the memorial services throughout America as I write, and for now, even the very dangerous Hurricane Ike has been pushed off of the front pages in favor of the endless remembrances and ceremonies. However, most Americans should be use dto it all by now, they know that once Labor Day is behind us, the next thing is the September 11th remembrances, they have become as much a part of American Septembers as the Jerry Lewis telethon has. This day means a lot of different things to different people in America, mostly bad things, but there is one sector of the society that has used this day for things other than sad remembrances, although they'll pretend to be doing that today as always on this day, but in reality, they have gotten a lot of mileage out of the events of seven years ago, and are looking for one last hurrah on that front today.

Of course, I speak of the Bush Administration, an Administration that is always going to be defined by that day and the aftermath of it and loves that no end. George W. Bush used that day to do an awful lot of shit, and will use today to squeeze one last blast out of it. Without that day, all that he would be remembered for would be the fact that he was elected President without a majority of the popular vote and had a dad that also was President. However, that day elevated George W. Bush into the stratosphere and started an agenda that has not stopped since. The aforementioned two wars are the biggest part of that, wars that Bush swears are necessary to prevent the tragedy of that day seven years ago from happening again, no mater how many Americans have to die in them. Those two wars have started up the greatest gravy train that the world has ever seen, making many rich people even richer and more powerful than they ever inagined. Every day since then, the Pentagon has been doling out money by the millions and even billions of dollars, showing that war is great business for the well-connected. Bush has made sure that no expenses have been spared in these wars, even at the expense of life here at home in America. Th efear and terror that that day wrought has been used as excuses to cut spending and money for many things here at home in favor of fighting in far-off parts of the world, and that shit shows no sign of slowing down even a little bit. Bush wanted to be known as a war President, and that he has, and he has zero intention of letting the war machine slow down even one iota until after he retires next January. He says that he is on a mission from God to smite the heathens that struck America that day and that he won't rest until he either gets the job done or retires, and retirement is going to come well before victory. However, that is not going to stop Bush from whipping up the hysteria all day today, reminding people of something that only a total alcoholic or drug addict has forgotten. He plans on reminding everyone of how terrified they were that day and how there has not been a repeat of it since, and how that all has been due to him and his vigilance and the two wars that he started. he made the people that controlled him very rich because of that one day, and since he still has over 100 days left, that means that he still has to enrich them further. The problem with that has been the fact that the American people have turned against the endless wars by and large, but whenever this day rolls around every September, he reminds them of the fear that they felt that day, and then they obediently fall into line again, at least for a while, and this year, a while is all that he needs. He'll be back on the ranch in Texas next year on this day, so he only needs to scare the American people for a short time now, a task that he is certainly up to and eminently capable of. The wars only have to drag on until January 20th next year, and that is very easy for him to do. Once the next President takes over, Bush does not give a fuck what happens with the wars, but as long as he sits in the Oval Office he needs to scare the American people into submission, so expect him to do that one last time today as he simultaneously glorifies himself as the warrior of God that has "protected" the American people from another day like that. So for Bush personally, today is a serious last hurrah and a last chance to paint himself as that feraless warrior of God for the history books.

Of course, the effects of that day are felt  here in America too, a country that is nowhere near the same as it was seven yearas ago. Bush made sure that the average American has to feel the effects of that day no matter where they live, by enacting all sorts of laws and shit based on that day. The most famous of these is the Patriot Act, something that was ramrodded through Congress in the aftermath of that day without any opposition whatsoever. That fucker gave the government unprecedented powers not over any Muslim fanatics that were behind the attacks, but over the ordinary Americans, the people that were scared shitless by that day for the most part. Bush made sure that Washington got increased spying powers over the people, and that travel was restricted and monitored closely, all inb the name of "national security against those that hate America." However, he has never really explained how cracking down on American citizen's phone calls and e-mails and having the airports become Police State checkpoints accomplished that, but he never had to, all he had to do was to whip out the hysteria stick about Septenmber 11th, 2001 and get everyone in a tizzy again and he was able to keep that ball rolling. rest assured that he wil use today to brag about how all these restrictions against Americans and all these curtailings of personal liberties have kept us "safer" these last seven years, when all that they have really done is to enrich the people that control Bush even more. Now that retiremnent is near, many Americans are starting to see that these restrictons and such have not done shit in reality, but Bush wil use today to scare the fuck out of everyone again and make them think that they have. Again, he only has to pull this shit off for a little more than 100 days, and if he has been able to pull it off successfully for seven years now, 100 plus days is nothing. Once again, the main focus of it all is going to be about him, how he has prevented another attack by these actions and how America owes him everything for that. It will not matter today that many of these claims that Bush will make have long since been proven false, because he'll just use his favorite tactic to deal withg that, namely that anyone that criricizes him or anything about that day is a traitor and an enemy of America out to kill Amricans and destroy their way of life. Logic and sense have no place in any ceremonies today, only fear and hysteria do, the same things that have made this day the most celebrated day in the Bush Administration. The domestic shit that Bush changed is sure to last long after the two wars are finally over, a gift from him to not only the next President, but the one after that, and so on. Bush just wants to squelch any talk about how these domestic things are unnecessary by whipping up the fear and hysteria that made them possible to begin with. Since this is the last time that he gets to do so as President, look for him to go heavy on that, painting anyone that dares disagree with him as a traitor and enemy as he squeezes the last possible benefits out of that day. Bush has needed this day just to survive politically, it is the sole reason that he is a retiring two-term President instead of a one hit wonder like his old man was so he is going to milk it today more shamelessly than ever before. Seven years ago today was the greatest day in that fuckers life, and since this is his last anniversary of it as President, he is going to pull out all the stops today to make sure that no one ever forgets that and to celebrate the riches and such that he and his sick motherfucking cronies got from it all.

That is why today is not a day to remember at all, becauise the fact is that Bush and his people have used it as an excuse to make the world a much less safe place for everyone except themselves and they have danced on the graves of the people that died that day until they wore holes in them. Only a naive fuckhead still believes that Bush and his people had nothing to do with the events of seven years ago because the man has not stopped living off of it ever since. he calls anyone that speaks against his bullshit a traitor and enemy, but it is very hard to find a worse enbemy of the American people, and of the human race at large than George W. Bush and the shitheads that control him. These people let a major tragedy happen simply so they could enact some mad plan that they cooked up to dominate the world andit has worked like a charm for them, better than they themselves probably ever could have hoped for. That's why today is going to be a big day for them, because they want to celebrate the shit that they pulled off seven years ago today and all the great things that they have gotten out of it at the expense of the rest of the world. Maybe someday this day will become another Pearl Harbor Day, a day where a tragedy is remembered and not  a day where evil people enriched and empowered themselves at everyone else's expense. Maybe one day Americans will be able to talk about the events of that day without freaking out and labelling people traitors and such, but that day is not going to be today, because Bush and Co. are going to see to that. They have a little bit more that they intend to squeeze out of this all, and today is the last chance to do that, so look for them to do what they have been doing for seven years now, make the most out of the chance. They don't give a fuck about anything that they'll be claiming that they do today, just like in years past, it will all be about making themselves richer and more powerrful and nothing else. Today is the last day where they openly get to do a tango on the graves of the dead  and nobody can do anything about it either, lest they be labelled a traitor and enemy. They have no concience about the things that have transpired these last seven years, how America has been rent asunder, with Americans hating on other Americans more than ever over that September 11th shit, and freedoms being curtailed like never before, and over 4,000 lives lost in Bush's pursuit of that insane fucking plan. Whoever is the next President is going to inherit a mess that is now America seven years later  and that is an even greater tragedy than the events of that fateful day. However, that matters not to Bush and the people that will be shamelessly milking today for all that it is worth because to them, the events of that day were an even greater success than Bin Laden thought they were. We can only hope that today is the last time that graves are danced on and people crow about what they got out of that day and that maybe one day, Americans shall be able to discuss the events of that day rationally and reasonably and the hysteria wil just be a distant memory. However, there is zero chance that today will be that day because Bush and Co. simply will not ket that happen because they want to have their last day in the sun bragging about what badasses they have been these last seven years and all the great things that they have done,  all the while scaring the living shit out of the American people about that day one last time and showing that they are the most evil, heartless, soulless people that exist and the fact that people like that rose to positions of power in America like they have is the real tragedy of that day and maybe one day Americans will realize that like they ought to and make sure that people like Bush never get into positions of power again so that a day like September 11th, 2001 truly never happens again.
