September 8, 2008- The Success

A couple of years back, there was nothing more controversial that President Bush's troop surge in Iraq. The worm had turned as far as the American people's unconditonal acceptance of the war went, they were now mostly against it and wanted the fucker stopped as soon as possible, but Bush flatly defied that thinking and said that he wanted to send even more troops to Iraq. He said that this was the only way to assure victory and so forth, but most people did not believe one word of that shit and let him know in no uncertain terms. However, as always, Bush prevailed on this one, even a reluctant Congress did not stand up to him like every other time, and even though they made all these blustery speeches and shit about how they did not support the war, they went along with it and gave Bush what he wanted. They attached a few "strings" to it, mainly that this surge only had a limited time to prove itself, and if it did not work like Bush said that it would, the troops would have to come back home, and since there were absolutely no teeth at all in this resolution, meaning that it would be impossible to implement, Bush agreed to it and said that it would not be necessary anyway because the surge was going to be the rousing success that he said it would be. Well, shit like that is major fodder in an election year, and the wanna-be Presidents made a huge fucking deal out of all of this on the campaign trail, the Democrats all saying that this shit would never work, and some Republicans agreeing with them. No one expected this shi tto work out, that it was going to be another colossal blunder by the Bush Administration, and Barack Obama was first and foremost on that train. He made the troop surge a major part of his campaign rhetoric, saying that he never voted for it, he probably voted "present" or "absent" or some such shit when the actual vote came up, but that was good enough for him to say that he was not a believer in the surge. And at first, the surge did not look like it was a success at all, you still heard shit about American soldiers getting killed every day, the body bags kept coming in after midnight as well, so things looked bad, especialy in Anbar province. That was the place that you heard about every day, the place where many of these soldiers and civilians were getting maimed and killed and such, a lawless land according to the Pentagon. This was precisely the place where cthe extra troops were to be sent, so they could restore"order" there and such. The problem was that the people in Anbar province were particularly vocal about not wanting the American troops there, and that was why there was such a problem there because the people decided
to fight back and they did. This is as mich a strategically valuable place in Iraq as Baghdad, so Washington just had to settle this place down before they could say that they had control of Iraq, just controlling Baghdad was not good enough. So Bush was advised to send extra troops to Anbar province in order to get the upper hand and show everyone that the invasion of Iraq was not the mistake that so many were saying that it was. Since Iraq is how Bush wants to be defined not just as  President, but as a man, getting control there before he had to retire was vital to him because as far as he was concerned, his entire legacy depended on it. At first, it looked like he was wrong again, that God had once again given him some bad advice and that America was in much worse shape in Iraq than they ever let on, and now everyone was going to know, and Barack Obama wasted little time crowing this to every sycophant that he encountered on the campaign trail and it looked like Bush had pulled another colossal fuck-up.

However, things started to change and all of a sudden, you were not getting daily reports of scores of American troops killed in Anbar province and the rest of Iraq and the planes carying the body bags were not such a frequent sight in the middle of the night anymore. It seemed as if the surge was starting to do exactly what Bush had said that it would, restore some semblance of order in Iraq. In fact, it was going so well that Bush never did call for additional reinforcements to the surge like he said that he might have to when it started and even started talking about bringing troops home, or at least reducing the numbers of troops in Iraq. Even the media that was so fucking biased against Bush's surge could no longer say that the surge was not a success, that Iraq was still the wild place that it had been a few years earlier. No matter what you may have thought of Bush and what he did, for the last few months, it has looked like he was a fucking genius in sending the additional troops to Iraq because they have gotten that elusive upper hand. That has not gone unnoticed by Obama, who the other day completely reversed his prior position, or at least tried to look as if he was doing so, and said that the surge has been a success beyond anyone's wildest dreams. Chameleon that  he is, he had to say that to stay on top of the polls, but he would not have said it if it did not look like it was the truth, so it just has to be true that the surge succeeded. Washington thinks that it did, so much so that they handed Anbar province over to the Iraqis to police themselves and all that, in a huge ceremony that was televised all throughout Iraq and the highlights were worldwode news. Washington is making a huge fucking deal out of the fact that this is Anbar province that they handed over, not some scrubland province that does not matter for shit, and they are crowing to one and all about how the surge has been a success. Even Bush has gotten in on the act, going around bragging about how he was right and all others were wrong, that he knew what he was doing, that God did not sell him a bum steer and that everything worked out just like he said. The truth is, that what Obama said is the reality, that they never expected to succeed in Anbar province like they have, that they just wanted to tone the killings down a bit, they expected the fighting to continue, and they never expected to be able to hand Anbar over to the Iraqis this soon, if ever. It looks as if America has indeed conquered the most restive spot in Iraq and has it under their control, and if they can do that there, how hard is it going to be to be able to get the rest of the country under control and be able to hand it all over to the Iraqis to govern and such themselves, the stated goal of this whole war thing back in 2003. So many peoplelhave been saying that this was all lies, that the goal of the war was not to let the Iraqis live on their own free and happy like Washington said, but to get money for themselves as fast and as much as they possibly could shovel in. Bush has always vehemently denied that, but no one believed him, but when you look at this Anbar province shit, it might just be true, that he really had a vision from God that told him to free oppressed people, not just enrich already rich ones further, and he is wasting no time jumping on this fucker and saying just that, because this is the best thing that has happened for his legacy in years now and he wants to capitalize on that as much as he can before he leaves in a few short months. Has America settled Iraq down enough so that the Iraqis can indeed govern it themselves, or is this more lies and bullshit out of Washington?

If you look closely at the story, it looks like more of the latter than the former. What Bush is not saying is what America has had to do to get "control" of Anbar province and that is some pretty heavy shit. That was one of the places where Washington employed the "shock and awe" tactics, the ones where they just bombed the shit out of everything and reduced it all to rubble. They also did shit like use phosphorous bombs on the people of Anbar, reducing them to ashes as well. However, that was not enough to stop the people from fighting back, so whern the surge came, they upped the ante and started using even worse tactics, shit like bombing schools, mosques, and hospitals, shooting at ambulances and anything that moved. Since the Americans have come to Anbar province, they have destroyed about 85% of the buildings and either killed or displaced an equal number of residents. What that has done is to enable America to rebuild Anbar the way that they want, and that means a huge maze, walling people in left and right and setting up checkpoints here, there and everywhere and making it impossible for the average resident to walk down their own fucking block let alone take up arms again. Add to that the fact that there are just not enough people left to get a good fight going anymore, and it is not thaty hard for Washington to claim that the surge worked, and to be able to turn things over to the biggest fucking jokes, stooges, and puppets around, the Iraqi government. Those fuckers are incapable of running a hot dog stand, let alone a country, so there just have to be no people left in Anbar province for these assholes to be given the keys and told that they are in charge now. If there were even any dudes that were considered a tiny threat to fight, these fuckers would not be "running" things, America would. The only thing that has happened in Anbar province is that essentially the entire thing has been  levelled and there's just nothing left to be in control of, at least not until America re-builds Anbar province in its own image. However, the media are still safely in the pocket of the Bush Administration, the fact that they are about to all leave has not made a difference, the media wil be their puppets and mouthpieces until the day that Bush retires in January, so they are not supposed to report these facts to the American people, they are just supposed to spout whatever the Administration tells them to, just as they have for the last eight years now. True to form, the media are doing just that and making it seem like America has actually accomplished something here and that the stated goals of all of this back in 2003 were for real and not just propaganda designed to satiate the masses. America is eating that shit up to, even ardent critics of Bush are admitting that he was right and that the surge did help things, now all they want is for him to set a timetable for sending the troops back home. Even Obama is saying that,  meaning that the American people are to be brainwashed into thinking that the surge was indeed a success, and that is how it is going to be written in the media now, which is the best news that Bush has heard in years now because it means that his legacy is going to get a much-needed shot in the arm off of this. However, that success does not seem to be all that much, taking over a devastated and ruined land that has virtualy no one left in it does not look like a success, and it is not, but the Bush Administration has much different definitions of success than others do, so even though they are just using the latest shit for propaganda purposes, they really do consider it all a success, just for different reasons.

They wanted to blast the living shit out of everything in Anbar province and either kill or displace the people there, because that was what they needed to do in order to ever run Iraq at all. Washington knew that they would never be able to really run Iraq themselves, much less turn it over to the puppets, unless they utterly destroyed the entire country and society and then re-built it in the image that they wanted to. There werre two places in Iraq that they wnted to do that in the most, Baghdad and Anbar province. These were the places where they not only faced tough oppostion, but Washington has to control these places in order to ever run Iraq as a proper puppet state. They knew that it weas just too big of a proposition to be able to do that all throughout Iraq, so they had to pick what they thought were the prime targets and destroy those and then take over when everything and everyone was pretty much gone so they could send a message to the rest of Iraq and everywhere else that Washington wants to rule, that America will just come and destroy everything and kill everyone and then send in its own people to re-populate and re-build, and that is how they shall take over, so resistance is futile. They expect the rest of Iraq to see that and either get the fuck out of the country or meekly submit to Washington and take whatever they are given. That is the way that you build a proper puppet state and Washington intends to do just that in Iraq. Their idea of success is either killing or chasing off or subjugating all the Iraqis that may not want them there, because they know that is like 90% plus of them. Getting rid of them leaves things wide open for Washington to turn Iraq into what they wanted it to be all along, an American puppet state. America does not give a fuck about exterminating the Iraqis wholesale because they have a history of doing just that right here in North America to the Native Americans. Washington made it clear to them that they intended to either kill or subjugate their entire race so that they could run America their way. They have been so successful at their programs of genocide against these Native People that they see no problem instituting the same things in Iraq so they can have that like they want too. Anbar province was a test case for that attitude and way of doing things so that the rest of Iraq could see that Washington was fucking serious about this shit. Now that they have succeeded at levelling that province, there is no place in Iraq that is safe, so the Iraqi people had better wise up or get out as far as Washington is concerned. That is why Bush can say that it was a success and not be lying, because that was what he wanted all along, not to turn Iraq over to any Iraqi people, but to destroy it all and start it all over again in America's image. He wanted to show the Iraqis that America has not forgotten how it came to be in control of its own country and that they have no reservations about using those same tactics again in Iraq. The difference is that the Iraqi people have gotten ample warnings on this unlike the Native Americans, who just had it all thrust upon them without warning. What Washington has accomplished in Anbar province has been the final warning to the Iraqi people, that Washington is prepared to do to them exactly what it did to the people here centuries ago, and still continues to do to them today, becaauwe Iraq has shit that Washington and America want, and that is money, and the American Way is to singlemindedly pursue money no matter what the cost, it was why Washington exterminated the Native Americans and why they'll exterminate the Iraqis too if they feel that they have to. So the Iraqis have been warned and Washington feels that it now up to them to either heed the warning or face the consequences.
