September 2, 2005- The Imperfect Storm

Ever since Hollywood released one of its bullshit flicks a few years back about a hurricane or something like that called A Perfect Storm, you hear that term being used to describe virtually any weather system that comes along, be it a blizzard, tornado, thunderstorm, hurricane, dust storm, whatever, people all use that term now to describe it. That term was only used in weatherman circles before that fucking movie came out, and they used it to describe a storm that comes together when the conditions are ideal for formation of whatever kind of storm it is, not to describe the storm itself. This week, that term has been overused more than any other by the media as they breathlessly try to out-sensationalize each other with their coverage of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. There is no doubt that this is a about as bad a scene as it gets, but their hyperbole and constant over-use of that term is making it all worse. For in the areas where Katrina hit, like New Orleans Lousiana and Biloxi Mississippi and their environs things are about as far from prefect as you can possibly get. Things there are a disaster beyond comprehension for many, and this is all being called the American tsunami, referring to the destructive tsunami of last December over in the Indian Ocean area, and in many ways, that's not far from the truth. Whole towns are just wiped off of the map and there is water everywhere and not much else. Even the governments of these affected areas themselves are saying that they have no idea just how bad this all is because they just cannot reach many of the areas hit hardest and won't be able to for a long time to come. Besides, they have enough problems as it is in New Orleans, where the city has ben turned into the most lawless American city since the Old West days as the survivors find out that maybe they weren't so lucky to have survived it after all more every day. Conditions are going from bad to worse to catastrophic as every hour passes, and people are starting to resort to all sorts of things amidst the desperation. Looting is widespread, and even thought many are just taking things that they need like water and food because they have no idea of where their next meal is coming from, others are taking shit like TV sets and guns, and they are using the guns against those that are trying to help them in some cases. Hospitals that have been trying to move their patients to higher ground have found their personnel fired upon by snipers, and rescue missions have been suspended in many places until order can be restored. That has made everything worse, and people are sleeping on the Interstate highways and on the sidewalk and freaking out en masse and wondering why things have gotten like this. After all, this is America, a country that prides itself on being the most developed country around and having the most of everything and so forth. It is a copuntry7 that insists that it can build countries based on itself in places where that is unheard of, so then why are so many of its own people in such dire straits after Katrina? Why is there such a humanitarian disaster right here in America that rivals the one from last December in those underdeveloped Third World countries? The answers to that are to be seen in just who got hit the hardest here.

The American South has always been a place where shit like segregation and prejudice have gone hand in hand, especially the Deep South. That was where slavery was alive and well until the 1860's, when washington put a stop to that shit. However, this did not change the attitude towards the poor there, especially the black poor. They were treated as second class citizens in every way that The Establishment there could think of. They were marginalized and shoved into ghettos and denied jobs and opportunities in every way possible. Decade after decade this continued, no matter what anyone tried to do about it. Oh there were cosmetic changes, like the elimination of polling taxes and literacy tests in order to vote and the like, but the lot of the blacks and other poor folks has never changed a whole lot since then. That holds true to this very day, and is why there is such a humanitarian crisis now. For when you look at the people that are swimming through the polluted water in the streets and are freaking out about missing family members and don't know what the fuck to do next, you'll see that 99% of them are black. Not just that, but they are poor blacks, and that makes it worse. So many of them are in the predicament that they are in now simply because they could not get out of town due to the fact that they had no car or any other transportation, and no money to but themselves passage out of town. They were given no choice except to try and ride the storm out in places that were the most poorly equipped to handle such a thing because they were the areas that were given the shortest end of the stick and had the worst infrastructure and thus had zero chance of making it through things. The only recourse that they were given was to go to places like the New Orleans Superdome for shelter, and before they were even given admission to there, they had to be thoroughly searched by the Pigs for "security reasons." The Pigs said that this was necessary because they wanted to stop people from bringing shit like weapons or drugs or booze into the shelters, and that also shows how these poor folks are treated by society. It is absurd to think that people fleeing for their lives would bother to bring weapons with them when they are going to a place where they are supposed to get help. It is also hard to believe that they'd grab their drugs or booze either, because they'd know that there would be no party where they were going. No, they were treated that way because that's how Americas always treats them, they make everything like a jail as much as they can. These things that they were prohibited from bringing into the shelters are exactly the same things that they are not allowed to have in jail, and that was no coincidence. All America knows how to do with its poor is to throw them into some kind of penal institution or another, and that's what they did by putting these refugees in the neighborhoods they were in and the shelters during the storm and so forth. Now, these institutions have all collapsed and the result has been chaos for the poor.

The Establishment has not been helping this any by the way they respond to things either. Their response has been rather slow, because their priorities have been skewered here. The Pigs and such have seemed much more concerned about the looting problem then they have about the plight of the refugees themselves. The Governor Of Mississippi has been on TV all week long, blowing it out his fat ass about how looting and such will not be tolerated and that those that engage in it will be dealt with by his Pigs with overwhelming force and so on. In New Orleans, the Pigs have been told that martial law has been declared and that they should shoot looters to kill them and such. The Establishment seems to be far more concerned about the well being of Wal-Mart than the well-being of its own citizens. Now Wal-mart has got plenty of insurance to cover all of this, and they will not be hurt in the least, The only ones that will be hurt are the small stores in the poorer neighborhoods because they cannot afford to have that insurance, so they are pretty much wiped out. Since the owners of those stores tend to live in those same communities, they have no place to go back to anyway, as their home was almost certainly destroyed, so the end of their store does not matter much anyway in the long run. Wal-Mart is a huge multinational corporation and its executives live far, far away from Louisiana and Mississippi and will not be economically hurt by all of this. All of the merchandise that they sold at these stores was pretty much ruined by the flood and such anyway, so the TV set that the dude steals out of the Wal Mart is not going to do him any good anyway, even after the electricity goes back on because it was ruined by flood waters first. People are only stealing shit like that because they are not thinking rationally due to the catastrophe and are acting very badly as a result. The snipers that are shooting at the hospital people and rescue missions show that, these people are so frightened and traumatized that they don't know who is friend and who is foe now, so they have reverted to basic survival instincts. Having the Pigs come and beat the shit out of them and arrest them for stealing a waterlogged TV set does no good at all. However, that's what the likes of Governor Barbour of Mississippi Is doing rather than trying to help survivors. The Establishment is doing the only thing it knows how to do to these poor folks, send them to jail. They are freaking out because so much of their control has been lost and the Poor are loose and free far more so then they usually are, despite the disaster. All they want to do is to corral them back into the holes and corners that they shove them into all the time and move on, but they cannot, and are having fits because of it. In some ways, it is starting to look as if they actually want a lot of these people to die because they feel that it's easier to deal with the dead, they don't shoot at you and such, then to deal with the living. They sure do not seem to concerned with it all, as the utter lack of organization is showing. To The Establishment, this is a golden opportunity to rid theselves of some of these poor people that they consider such a bother and nuisance to them all the time.

This whole disaster was not an unexpected phenomenon like The tsunami was. For years now, scientists had been saying that New Orleans was in for a major catastrophe when a major hurricane hit because of its location beneath sea level. The only reason that city exists at all is due to a system of levees and pumps that keep the water out of the city, at least until Katrina came to call. That system had been getting old and deteriorating for years now, and Washington was well aware of it too. They were supposed to allocate a lot of money there to fix the levee system so that this sort of thing would not happen. However, that money got taken away from New Orleans about 2003 by Washington so that they could funnel it into the war effort. President Bush took most of the money away from that project to fund his war and that was why the levees were not reinforced like they were supposed to be. Another thing that Washington took from the area was the personnel that are trained to help in emergencies like this. The National Guard was formed precisely for that reason, with every state having a contingent of it around to help if disaster struck that area. However, Bush has decided that he wants to use National guardsmen as soldiers, which they are not supposed to be, and send them to Iraq to fight his war. They are called the National Guard for a reason, because they are supposed to guard America, not be half a world away trying to steal shirt for Mr. Businessman. However, they are in Iraq, thousands of them from the Louisiana chapter and the Mississippi chapter, and that has meant that there was no one available locally when Katrina struck to help the people. The local Pigs were not properly equipped for such a thing, and the people that were are on the other side of the world fighting a war. That left the poor people of the area right out in harm's way, and they are paying the price for that. This all shows the mentality of the people in Washington that run things in America. They really do not give a fuck about those people in the polluted waters in New Orleans and such, because that is very far away from the mansions where they live. They know that this suffering and horror there has zero chance of reaching them, so they are uncaring about those that are there suffering. They know that they took the only really trained people for such an emergency out of the area and sent them to Iraq, but they feel that is much more important because that's where the money is for them. There was no money in Louisiana or Mississippi for them to get and to get the money from Iraq, they felt they needed the National Guard, so they sent them there. They might pay lip service to the people here in America that are suffering and maybe even donate a dollar or two to the relief funds, but they care zero about those people, they are more concerned about those offshore oil rigs that got fucked up by Katrina and if they are OK. As long as it does not happen to them, it's cool as far as they are concerned. The thing that they are forgetting is that no matter where you are in America, natural disasters will strike you, it is just a matter of time. Whether it's a tornado, flood, wildfire, Earthquake, volcano, whatever, it will strike where you live. That includes where the movers and shakers of America live as well. Sooner or later, they will be visited by a natural disaster like the folks down South have been, and they will be the ones in need of help. Even if you live in a mansion, a flood or hurricane or tornado or whatever is going to fuck you up very bad, just as bad as if you live in a trailer or whatever. When that happens, you will need the trained help just as the poor do, and that help will be in some other country fighting some motherfucking war for you. That is going to happen all across America as the inevitable natural disasters mount and Americans all across the country will see that the help they counted on is nowhere to be seen. Every state has lots of its National Guardsmen in Iraq and is shorthanded in that department locally. That is a recipe of catastrophe all across America, and Hurricane Katrina was just the start of that. These disasters will outdo anything that Osama bin Laden and the terrorist crowd could ever cook up as well and hurt America far more. However, the washington assholes and the Businessmen friends are so far gone into their addictions and compulsions and insane fantasies that they just do not see that anymore, and are putting the entire country at risk by their actions. As long as those in charge here are more concerned about stealing oil money from everyone in sight than they are about really protecting their own people, America is at far greater risk than from any terrorist shit. Washington does not care now because it's the poor blacks down South that are suffering, and they never had much use for them after slavery was abolished anyway, so they could care less, but soon it will be the Americans that they do care about suffering from some other natural disaster and needing assistance that is not available, and eventually it will be them that are in need of that help and they are going to end up just like the folks down South are ending up now and when that happens they won't like that too much, rest assured. Once again, the bungling, short sighted, insane addictions of Washington have taken precedence and have caused an even bigger disaster then what should have been. That Is one of the ways that America shall ultimately destroy itself and things like Hurricane katrina should not have the power to do that any more than Osama bin Laden and his boys should.
